With the trademark being revealed for Kamen Rider Gotchard’s successor, it’s time to take a dive into the rumour mill and see what we know about the Rider of 2024!
Before we get in deep in here – obligatory warning: these are all rumours. Please take them with a grain of salt until we have hard confirmation of them. Also a lot of the images in this article are fan mockups, edited together from other shows based on the rumours.
RELATED: Kamen Rider Gavv Trademark Filed
As pointed out by Jay in his reveal of the name trademark, and I quote:
The name “Gavv” itself carries an intriguing connotation. In Japanese, “gavu” could be interpreted as a play on the word “gabu,” which means “bite.” This linguistic hint suggests a character or gimmick that might involve biting which is similar to Ryusoulger and Kyoryuger.
Churning The Rumour Mill
With that in mind, let’s start with what was the first rumour: the cryptic riddle from RangerBoard’s Dukemon, a.k.a. friend of The Toku Source, Matt Hunt.

From this we can glean two bits of information; the gimmick for this season is snacks and also the Rider has an animal motif.
Next, we have rumours about the drivers for the season and how they will work. As you can see, the driver is a monster that you would feed the snack into and turn the Build Driver like crank to make it chew.

Another rumoured theme for Gavv is gummies, with our unnamed red and white secondary being chocolate themed. Other snacks mentioned at the moment include a crisp/potato chip sword and marshmallows (possibly the season’s ranged weapon, if I had to guess).
With this in mind, here’s a mock up of Kamen Rider Gavv. Please note that it’s expressly mentioned that there will be a lot of clear parts as well.

Rumours are also saying the secondary will be showing up in October, with the first set of powerups being cake and ice pop themed. Ankh would be proud.
There are however, some conflicting rumours about the sword. They state that it’s not food themed but rather road themed, with a small bike as part of it. Apparently, it will utilise a smaller mimic monster that sits on the bike themed hilt and slides up for finishing moves.

Lastly, we have even newer and more updated mockups for the driver, helmet and more.

The Earliest Leaked Photo of All Time?
We have also been treated to a behind the scenes picture and small video of, supposedly, Kamen Rider Gavv and one of the monsters, as well.

This is most likely from their cameo in either of the future Gotchard movies or their in-series cameo. They likely start filming suit actor scenes first, before even finalising the cast.
I would like to draw attention to the orange things on Gavv’s hands. Interestingly, it seems like one of their early forms or finishes involve them morphing their hands into weapons. Also, if you compare this to the mockup, they have matching colour pallette and shoulders so it’s likely very close to what Gavv will look like.
Looking at the monster or at least what is clearly the back, I would guess that it’s turtle or spider themed. I have seen some speculation it could be the Medusa Megid from Kamen Rider Saber which could mean Hundred are involved with one of Gotchard’s movies, assuming the crossover movie is not with more than just Boonboomger.

Rampant Speculation
Alrighty, with everything we “know” laid out, let me get into some of my own rampant speculation for a trademark Ethan toku theory.
Taking Dukemon’s post in mind, I think the belts are more themed on the fantasy monsters, Mimics. Meaning it’s not animal + snack, it’s mimic monster + snack. That’s not to say the mimic monster cant be a cat, dog, wolf, etc of course, since all of this would be difficult to communicate via emoji. Additionally, I can see the driver releasing with the top jaw of the mimic monster being swappable to differentiate Riders, not unlike the Ryuki Advent Deck holders.
Additionally, this could hint to some fantasy or fantasy game theming, especially when you consider the additional rumour that the monsters for the season will be slime based. This would, sort of, be like a Kamen Rider season based on the popular series Delicious in Dungeon/Dungeon Meshi. Then again, looking at the mockup, they do look like they have dog ears, so maybe I’m way off and it’s a natural order, all things need to eat, food chain type of theme the series could be going for. Who knows! I’ve called wilder shots with even less information.
Something that supports my Delicious in Dungeon/Dungeon Meshi theory is a post by Ironheng, shared on their Facebook page (above). The four pictures provide more clues. We know the gummy and chocolate are in reference to Gavv and their secondary Riders snack themes the other pictures though are two Dragon quest monsters, a Heligator and Paws to be exact. Do I think each Rider’s mimic monster will literally be these monsters? No, but it will likely be a crocodile and shark monster like them, though.
That’s it for now! Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments. I’ll be back with more from the rumour mill, when we get it!
Are you excited for Gavv? Are you planning on collecting all the snack gimmick items? What do you make of the behind the scenes picture? As always, I’ve been Ethan: writer, reviewer and a new mysterious Rider for The Toku source. I’ll cya next time!
