Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Return #1 Teases First Page Previews with Dynamic Art

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1 has been teased by Boom! Studios in a four page preview. The first pages of the comic were shared with the fandom and include dynamic visuals that reveal a mysterious antagonist.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return was revealed during San Diego Comic Con 2023, which features Amy Jo Johnson as the writer for the comic series. As a love letter to the fandom, the iconic actress known for portraying Kimberly Hart will bring a new take on the original team, as if they never left. Joining her to bring the story to life is cowriter Matt Hotson and artist Nico Leon, with the new series joining as part of the 30th Anniversary celebration of Power Rangers. Concept had already been revealed for characters including Kimberly, Jason, Billy and Zack, with a new female green Ranger revealed to be Olivia Hart.

Striking Art Previews First Issue

Boom! Studios, together with leading toy and game company Hasbro, are thrilled to present a first look at Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1, written by the original Pink Ranger herself, Amy Jo Johnson, along with co-writer Matt Hotson and artist Nico Leon (Ms. Marvel)!

In an alternate universe, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers defeated Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, but at a terrible cost… and in the wake of that tragedy, the team went their separate ways.

Twenty two years later, the long disbanded team reunites to mourn the losses of beloved friends, but Zack and Billy have some unexpected information to share: Jason – the Red Ranger, who has long been operating as a lone vigilante – has disappeared.

Will the remaining Rangers be able to track him down, especially with a mysterious figure in pursuit?

The use of tones and colours for the first 4 pages delivers such a dramatic edge to the story, as the pages tease a new foe within the shadows. Seeing a badly hit Command Centre and the original Red Ranger has burnt anticipation into our eyes. However, much like Leon’s 3D model, already the pursuit of accuracy is highlighted by the conversion of the Blade Blaster to Sword mode. The alternate storyline brought a lot of excitement but these promising images will likely thrust fans into supporting the Kickstarter before it concludes.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return Boom! Direct Reserve Campaign closes soon and has featured special surprises, product reveals, and hidden stretch goals to be announced all month long! The limited Edition collectables will only be available until the end of the Kickstarter campaign, with limited stock on specific pledges.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1 will be release on February 7, 2024, at local comic book stores.
