Everyone’s favourite Titans are teaming up again to stop an apocalyptic threat in the newest entry to Legendary’s Monsterverse, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.
The past weeks have been fairly active with news on the upcoming fifth instalment of Legendary’s Monsterverse, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, with the mysterious orangutan Titan getting a name, three brand new posters for the main three Titans of the movie, and some potential toy leaks.
A New Threat Revealed in Movie Posters
Three new posters have been revealed for Legendary’s newest Monsterverse film. In them, we are shown handprints for the new Orangutan Titan (rumoured to be named Skar King), Godzilla, and Kong. The Star King poster, showing his glowing blue eyes, also features a small phrase for the character, ominously reading “Bow to your new King.”

Toy Leaks Provide First Look at New Empire Godzilla
Prior to the trailer release, a couple of images of what looks to be a new Godzilla figure tying into the film were leaked. In them, Godzilla has bright red dorsal fins, as well as what appears to be a longer tail, and is referred to as “Godzilla Evolved” on the packaging.

Trailer Drop Reveals Key Information
This being the fifth film in the Monsterverse franchise, Godzilla X Kong will see the titular Titans team up against a whole new threat to both humans and Titans. The film will be starring a returning cast of Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia, as well as newcomers to the franchise, Dan Stevens and Fala Chen.

Understandably, this trailer doesn’t give us a huge amount to go on for the moment. To start though, we get much better looks at the villain of the film, currently named Skar King. The ape like Titan is believed to be the ancient foe of Kong’s ancestors. It also sounds like he will be more than a match for our titular Titans as well, given some of the dialogue in the trailer, meaning the pair will need to work together if they want to retain their dominance of both Earth and Hollow Earth.

Speaking of Godzilla, it looks like the atomically powered lizard will be getting the powerup leaked by the toy images, earlier. In the trailer, we see the iconic Titan emerging from ice with a brand new pink glow as well as a new pink Atomic Breath ability, which suggests he’s stronger than before. It also looks like Kong gets some armour on his right arm after fighting Godzilla and MechaGodzilla in Godzilla vs Kong (2021).

Regarding our brand new villain, Skar King, it looks like he has left a massive red handprint on a structure the humans find in the Hollow Earth. We saw similar handprints in Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs Kong, too, but they more closely matched Kong rather than Skar King. As for future films, we see a baby ape titan reveal itself to a battle ready Kong and the Hollow Earth dwelling humans at some point in the trailer. Is this a child of Skar King and will Kong adopt him to be his son?

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire’s official synopsis is as follows:
The latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own.
