The Sentai Summary: Boonboomger #5 and #6 Execute Blazing Debut Of BunBlack and a New Foe

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger features the siren blazing debut of fourth Boonboomger, BunBlack, with great tension featured for two episodes. The latest episodes of the 48th Sentai series feature Officer Jou joining the ranks, while also adding some character development and substantial events.

Episodes 5 and 6 of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger also debut both Boonboom Patrol Car #1 and #2, a new Robo formation and a great new foe. A new member of the Hashiryan, Commander Mad Rex, adds a level of high octane danger that adds new intensity to the story. Along with some unique equipment and attacks, the series begins to add even more spin to an already full throttle Sentai series.

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger finally debuts BunBlack in episode 5 of the 48th Sentai series, featuring Jou Akuse becoming the latest member. It was previously revealed that both BunBlack and BunOrange will have a unique appearance compared to the other three members. This includes a siren theme to their Changer, armour on their shoulders, a new Axe Changer and even different types of treads on their helmet. BunOrange is yet to debut, but Genba has already been teased to be in procession of his own Boonboom Booster.

Boonboomger Explosive Debuts of BunBlack & Mad Rex With High-Siren Action

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger Episode 5 finally debuted a new hero, BunBlack, along with his full throttle arsenal. Fans were also given a dramatic new debut of Commander Mad Rex, adding to the ranks of the Hashiryan. Fans were also treated to the first use of the Boonboom Booster, the Boonboom Change Axe and the Car Series duo, Boonboom Patrol Car #1 and Boonboom Patrol Car #2. This was followed by the debut of Boonboom Robo Police, while the team faced the tricky Dart Groomer and the manipulative Toilet Groomer.

Episode 5 Signals BunBlack

Fight For the Power

Despite the expectation, fans are surprised as Jou’s desire to become a Boonboomger is instantly rejected by Taiya. Although selected, Taiga adds a great U-Turn that sees him turning down the officer. We also see the Hashiryan generals frustrated with their lack of press, with added rage from Ittasha when teased with a pun of her name for a bad dart throw. However, Jou demonstrated his will to take the steering wheel as his encounter with Dart Groomer led him to intervene for the civilians and his teammates caught in the Kurumajyu’s grasp.

This moment was pivotal for Jou Akuse and also marks the first time the trio were overpowered by a foe. The officer demonstrated his selflessness as he managed to help people escape their punishment. However, he found himself heavily hit by the Kurumajyu and was hurt significantly, leading to one of the biggest demonstrations of resilience and willpower in the series so far. It was this willpower that led to his procession of the Boonboom Booster and Change Axe, with a great character progression moment from Taiga’s cranked-up opinion.

Alert: Amazing Debuts and Action Featured

Fans finally witnessed the debut of BunBlack as Jou obtained his gear after Taiga’s acknowledgement. The debut also brought the team together as even Genba was present since he delivered the case containing the Boonboom Change Axe. The transformation also had a fantastic difference as it uses a button, adding a similar flare but an added fire to BunBlack’s transformation debut. The action involving BunBlack was also especially potent, especially since the Axe simply cut away the special moves from the Kurumajyu.

The fight scenes involving the team were also captivating and highly dynamic, taking full advantage of the industrial setting. We also had a great roll call that involved all four members, which also perfectly used the local area for the scene. The flow of the battle was also highly engaging and entertaining, with different skills highlighted to keep the hype going for the viewers. We also got a nice finisher with BunBlack’s Rod mode debut for his weapon, which kept the scene’s dramatic flow by having no special effect on the sequence.

Big Mecha Premiere and Car Series Combat

Fans also saw the debut of Boonboom Patrol Car #1 and Patrol Car #2, which were teased at the beginning of the episode. There was even a greater drive sequence featured as Yeiyei faced against the new vehicles on the Highway Space. We also see the steering mode used as BunBlack enters Patrol Car #1, but the most interesting debut was BunBlue and BunPink sharing a Boonboom car for the first time. In Boonboom Patrol Car #2, the duo helped BunBlack with some stunning new duplication abilities and traps for Yeiyei.

The ability to duplicate was a great surprise but the debut of Boonboom Robo Police was a highly anticipated premiere. The formation had a great similarity to the tropes seen for the Dekaranger Robo, including the side shootout seen for similar combat themes. The counteraction of Dart Groomer was also excitingly overpowered, with shots every second and even fireworks. The finisher was also different than expected as a lighter finale, but the Robo formation debut has set a high bar that brings excitement for the next new formation.

Lighter Reveals and Ending Delights

Some key events occur as the series progresses. This includes both Taiga and Bundario needing to prepare a Boonboom Car before its action debut, which was seen previously for Boonboom Classic. We also see Shirabe Saibu slip between her serious demeanour and her delightful personality, which was brought out by Bundorio’s Curry party. The ending dance also featured a great lesson for kids to cross a pedestrian crossing safely, keeping the delightful outreach by the JAF going.

Episode 6 Thrusts New Challenges and Team Building

Impactful Debut With Twist in Drama

A new leading member of the Hashiryan makes themselves known, paving the way for some dramatic differences. General Mad Rex made a great impression as a new commanding antagonist, as his meteor landing changed the state of affairs. This includes Mad Rex making a new Kurumajyu instead of Ittasha and even forcing BunRed into facing him alone. This fundamental change has created a noticeable switch in the formula that perfectly shows how the story will begin to change as it progresses. Many fantastic moments involved all characters while presenting new challenges that add excitement for the next instalment.

Building Bonds With Mistrusting Shenanigans

The Toilet Groomer perfectly played into the focused bonding between BunBlack and BunBlue. The role Ishirou plays is given a brilliant twist that captures his experience as an information broker. This includes his deduction that Jou is hiding behind a kind facade, illustrating the dark side of humanity despite a good nature. This leads to many interesting interactions and even creates a massive relationship development between Ishirou, Jou, and even Mira.

By using Toilet Groomer’s ability to make people bring out their true feelings, fans get to see a brilliant mix of drama and even hidden natures. This includes Jou being true to his appearance but also perfectly revealing how passionate Ishirou can secretly be. This episode perfectly adds greater background to the characters, while also cementing strong relationships in the team. We also get a glimpse of Genba’s relationship with Taiya as he assists during his duel with Mad Rex.

Team Up Action and Villainous Powers

The episode has fantastic combat scenes that focus on the teamwork of the series. This is mostly between Ishirou and Jou after his apologetic awakening after being splashed by the Kurumajyu. However, along with the great action with the duo, fans also great some potent moves during Mad Rex’s combat premiere. BunRed is seen struggling against a key foe, but Genba’s acquisition skill kicks in to deliver a great new move by using a manhole cover with the Changer for a shield.

There is still some great action for the Car Series and Yeiyei, plus some diverse Robo action against the latest Kurumajyu. This episode also marks the first time BunRed is left out of the mecha battle, with BunPink driving the Boonboom Trailer instead. It was also great to see a new mix of abilities and attacks specific to the episode, while also using certain moments to highlight characters. The best highlight was finding out Ishirou’s view on Mira as he confirmed her great driving ability within the team.

For a dramatic and engaging debut to introduce BunBlack, we give Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger Episode 5 a total of 9 out of 10. With a terrific mix of character highlights and added series development, we give Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger Episode 6 a total of 7 out of 10.

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger will air episode 7 of the 48th Sentai series on Sunday, April 14th, 2024. The latest Sentai series exclusively airs in Japan via TV-Asahi, with the next instalment featuring the debut of BunOrange.
