Good news for all the Godzilla fans out there; it is being reported that a sequel to the hugely popular Godzilla Minus One is in the works!
We all remember Godzilla Minus One, right? The 2023 film directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who’s box office success put eyes on the Japanese Godzilla films among general audiences, and even became the first film in the 70-year old series to win an Oscar for its special effects work? Well, you may recall last year that I wrote an article about a new Godzilla film being in the early stages of development, with the afforementioned Yamazaki attached to direct, and a while ago, we got confirmation of what many fans, myself included, new it would be, a sequel to Minus One.
As confirmed by @discussingfilm on Twitter/X, from an article by variety.com, Yamazki is developing the new movie, expecting a bigger budget than the prior movie, which was produced for under $15M, but Toho doesn’t have an exact figure.
Personally, I’m very excited for this new movie, as Godzilla Minus One’s ending heavily implied that Godzilla was slowly beginning to regenerate, and maybe, just maybe, he’ll have a new Kaiju opponent, maybe someone like Hedorah, Anguirus or Biollante.
