No.1 Sentai Gozyuger DX Tega June Revealed

The greatest game of rock, paper, scissors, gun ever. A new transformation device is being added to the Gozyuger toyline this May, the main weapon used by the show’s latest antagonist: Ring Hunter Garyudo.

All good Super Sentai shows need a dark rival with a slightly retooled and recoloured version of the main team’s weapons. Gozyuger seems to be following in the footsteps of Stacaesar, Don Murasame, and Ohkuwagata Ohger, with the arrival of Ring Hunter Garyudo in it’s recent seventh episode.

Garyudo and Tega June made their debut in last Sunday’s episode of No.1 Sentai Gozyuger, revealed in spectacular fashion by gunning down my sweetheart Meguru Osai – a.k.a. Universe Warrior TyrannoRanger. Previews for episode 8 gave us a better look at this gunslinging nemesis, with Toei not afraid to be a little trigger happy themselves by announcing the release of Garyudo’s main weapon in toy form.

A lesser woman would make a joke about how this reflects the current state of Power Rangers in 2025. I, however, would simply make a Bon Jovi joke.

From what little we know about Garyudo so far, he is a member of No One World Buraidon, tasked with hunting down and taking the rings of the many Universe Warriors. When we see him in this week’s episode, he already has the Sentai Rings for Gosei Red (Tensou Sentai Goseiger) and Akaninger (Shuriken Sentai Ninninger) – being able to summon copies of these Universe Warriors he has previously defeated. He is also Hoeru/Gozyu Wolf’s long lost brother.

Taking a closer look at the DX Tega June, the toy swaps out the regal gold paint of the original Tega Sword for a sleek and cool metallic white with red highlights, as well as a firearm replacing the two blades. Just like the Tega Sword, this nifty little device can transform into a robot as well: Queen Tega June, the leader of No One World Buraidon, who possesses a slightly more bulky and weaponised build than her predecessor. A ring that doubles as the head for the robot mode is also included.

Garyudo’s firearm is also compatible with other Sentai Rings, offering unique sounds and phrases for each individual ring after they have been inserted into the centre of the transformation device – with plenty of clapping involved as well, I’m sure. Images shown for the product so far confirms compatibility with the Zyuranger, Gekiranger, Goseiger, and Ninninger Sentai Rings, though these are sold separately from the DX Tega June.

The DX Tega June and DX Queen Tega June is scheduled to release in May of 2025, for a retail price of ¥8,250.

No.1 Sentai Gozyuger has been offering an exciting and consistently high quality release of toys since it’s announcement, perhaps a contender for the strongest start a Sentai series has had for it’s first quarter of products. Here’s hoping that this line-up stays on top as Number 1!
