SODO Sundays – March 16th, 2025

Today’s additions are a Royal Flush! Kamen Rider Blade joins SODO Chronicle!

Welcome back, everyone, to another SODO Sundays. We’ve got a stellar one for you today with Kamen Rider Blade joining the SODO Chronicle line along with two additional Ultraman CHODO sets for your kickass kaiju displays.

Lets dive on in…

SODO Chronicle Kamen Rider Blade #1

The Bandai Candy team have revealed to us today that Kamen Rider Blade will be the next SODO Chronicle set, thus confirming my personal fear that Kamen Rider Ex-Aid was only getting one SODO Chronicle set; this is a shame as SODO Chronicle is a good line, which started with many waves for Kuuga, Gaim, Ryuki and Kabuto before dwindling to less and less waves for each rider. Ex-Aid has a plethora of forms and characters to draw from for a second wave, so it’s a shame opportunities are being missed.

Either way, instead of focusing on ‘what if’, lets focus on the here and now. As such, if Kamen Rider Blade is also getting just the one set, then it’s looking to be the best of choices for a single set.

Lets start with the main Rider himself…

I initially assumed we were getting this wave during Blade’s 20th anniversary last year, but better late than never I suppose!

It may be difficult to tell initially, but the Bandai Candy team have assured that they created clear plastic parts for the helmet of Blade. With the combination of printed compound eye stickers and the translucent plastic, it almost gives Blade that ‘premium’ SODO look.

Of course, Blade will come with many hand options; some holding the cards. The Bandai Candy team have given us some single card options as well as holding card combinations for ‘Lightning Blast’, ‘Lightning Sonic’ and ‘Lightning Kick’. Whether we’ll have to choose one of these options with the provided hands or get to utilise all three is unconfirmed at the moment.

Like with SODO Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, SODO Kamen Rider Blade will make sure your characters come with their respective weapons!

Next up is the secondary Rider, Kamen Rider Garren. Like Blade, he will also utilise clear plastic on his helmet. As expected, he’ll also come with his weapon and some card options including his ‘Burning Smash’ and ‘Burning Divide’.

Next in the set, we have Kamen Rider Chalice. No clear parts necessary for this character, but he’ll also come with many card options such as ‘Spinning Wave’, ‘Spinning Attack’, ‘Spinning Dance’ and ‘Spirit’. He will come with his weapon, which will feature a removeable Rouzer unit.

Then we have Kamen Rider Leangle, complete with card options and his Rouzer unit! Not much to say that hasn’t been said.

But we have one more…

That’s right! Kamen Rider Blade King Form will also be included in this set. An educated guess on my part would be that his inclusion in the initial set would logically mean we have very little chance in receiving a second SODO Chronicle Kamen Rider Blade set. Which is a shame but I digress.

That’s all for this toyline; releasing with five very awesome additions to everyone’s collection, SODO Chronicle Kamen Rider Blade is scheduled to release in August 2025!

CHODO Alpha Ultraman #12

It sure has been a while since the last Ultraman CHODO update, right? Well get your shelves and wallets ready for another assortment of heroes and monsters!

First up is Ultrawoman Grigio, making her debut into the CHODO toyline. She comes packed with the optional hand gesture and the Grigio Shot. Meanwhile the Grigio Cheer Charge and Grigio Shot Charge pieces are included in the optional accessory pack.

Next up is both Ultraman Blu and Ultraman Rosso, who both appeared in the CHODO line back in 2018! Blu comes with his Aqua Strium and Rosso with his Flame Sphere Shoot. The addition of the optional accessory pack will grant you access to the R/B Slugger for both Blu and Rosso.

These two will benefit greatly from the updated designs of the CHODO Alpha line, so be sure not to miss them!

Also making their CHODO debut after many requests is Ultraman Joneus! Strongest of the Great Eight, Joneus comes with his Planium Ray (Type B) and his Planium Ray (Type A) is gained from as you guessed…the optional accessory pack!

Also heavily requested and making their CHODO debut is Ultraman 80. The last Ultra of the Showa era finally arrives complete with their Succium Beam while their Buckle Beam is obtained through the optional accessory pack.

For those looking to add some new Ultras to their collection, CHODO Alpha Ultraman #12 is looking to be a great addition.

Where there’s Ultra’s, there’s Kaiju’s. Keep on reading to see what’s in-store with…

CHODO Alpha Ultra Monster #4

Heavily requested and making their CHODO debut is the infamous Black King! Featuring awesome articulation in the mouth, shoulders, elbows, wrists, feet, knees, ankles and tails which is impressive for the scale. Pair him up with your Ultraman Jack from CHODO Alpha Ultraman #9 for some serious play or display options.

Knuckle Alien returns to the CHODO toyline! This time featuring a new sculpt typical of the Alpha line. Be sure to pair him up with Ultraman Jack and Black King to unleash some fearsome Kaiju carnage!

After last appearing five years ago, Gorza returns to the CHODO toyline! The most recognisable monster from Ultraman Tiga arrives with an updated mould and colouring.

And finally we have Gudon; the ancient Kaiju from eons passed, making a reappearance after four years! Like Gorza, he’s been updated in both mould and colouring, featuring much more detail over his previous release. Be sure to pair him with Ultraman Jack also!

That’s all for today everyone! Both CHODO Alpha Ultraman #12 and Ultra Monster #4 are scheduled to release on Japanese shores June 2025!
