We’ve got all the details from the No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger press conference. What details are in store ahead of the show’s debut?
On January 26th, 2025, Toei streamed a press event introducing the main cast and characters of the 49th Super Sentai series, No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger. The event was broadcast on the Toei Tokusatsu YouTube Official channel, marking the unveiling of the latest Super Sentai instalment, which celebrates 50 years since the premiere of the original series, Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. In addition to showcasing the main cast, the press conference provided insight into the story, themes, and production details of the series, building anticipation among fans.
Cast and Characters
Mio Fuyuno as Hoeru Toono / Gozyu Wolf
Hoeru is a foul mouthed and unsociable man with a good heart. His violent and difficult behaviour results in him being dismissed from every job he takes. Due to a past incident, he has chosen to live without wishes of his own. When transforming, he becomes highly energized and howls. Despite his gruff nature, he occasionally shows a softer side.
Portrayed by Mio Fuyuno, Suit Actor: Kosuke Asai.
Hideharu Suzuki as Rikuo Byakuya / Gozyu Leon
Strategic and charismatic, Rikuo is a people pleaser who excels at manipulating others. After a past incident ended his career as an idol, he became an outcast. While sometimes overconfident, he makes a strong effort to support his claims.

Masakazu Kanda as Ryugi Bakugami / Gozyu Tyranno
A devoted follower of TegaSword, Ryugi’s unconventional beliefs led him to run away from home as a child in pursuit of making TegaSword happy. Despite his naive and laid-back nature, Ryugi possesses immense strength and rarely has anything to worry about.

Jin Matsumoto as Kinjiro Takehara / Gozyu Eagle
A party loving high school student, Kinjiro is serious about his goal of becoming more sociable. Though estranged from his family, he appears unconcerned about it.

Maya Imamori as Sumino Ichikawa / Gozyu Unicorn
Sumino is cool and composed but knows how to use her charm to her advantage when necessary. Formerly a police officer, an incident in her past led her to become an outcast. She now works as a high-class detective while holding a part-time job.

Noriko Nakagoshi as Saori Iijima
Saori is the owner of the house where Hoeru resides, as well as the proprietor of the Half Century Café. Eventually, she entrusts the café to Ryugi. Her nurturing nature makes her a mentor figure for the team.

Yuki Kaji as the Voice of TegaSword
A being that typically exists in the form of a “giant right hand,” TegaSword’s power was divided into countless rings following the Universe War. These rings are drawn to individuals with strong wishes. TegaSword organizes the Ring Battle, forming contracts with chosen humans to determine who among them is “Number 1.”

Additional Announcements
Voice actor Wataru Komada will provide additional narration during battle sequences in Gozyuger.
A supplementary Super Sentai stage show took place before the cast announcement. Past Super Sentai actors Kiita Komagine (Zenkaiser), Kohei Higuchi (Don Momotaro), and Taisei Sakai (Kuwagata Ohger) reprised their roles via voiceover, alongside the current protagonist Bun Red (voiced by Haruhi Iuchi). In the performance, the heroes are mind-controlled and must battle against the Gozyugers, who ultimately set them free. The show also featured exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews with the cast.
An extended trailer for Gozyuger was revealed, showcasing never-before-seen action sequences, transformations, and character moments.

No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger is the 49th entry in the Super Sentai franchise, following the conclusion of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. The series will premiere in Japan on Sunday February 16th, 2025. Additionally, Gozyuger Episode 0 will be available on TTFC on February 1, 2025. This special episode will provide the foundation of how the Sentai rings came to be!
