No.1 Sentai Gozyuger has officially been unveiled by Toei! This February, No 1. Sentai Gozyuger howls onto the scene as a beast themed hero team destined to captivate fans! This time, the enemies are none other than fellow heroes, leading to epic showdowns with legendary red heroes from the past. Aiming to claim the title of “Number One,” the strongest and most thrilling Sentai team is here!
Toei Company has officially announced No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger, the 50th anniversary commemorative work of the Super Sentai series. Set to premiere on February 16th, Gozyuger celebrates half a century since Himitsu Sentai Goranger debuted in 1975. This landmark series aims to become the strongest “Number One” team in Super Sentai history, combining animal and dinosaur motifs—two perennial favourites among children in Japan!
A First Look at the Gozyuger Heroes and Mecha
The first poster for Gozyuger showcases the five heroes and their respective giant robot. The team includes:
- Gozyu Wolf (Red): Unsociable but good hearted.
- Gozyu Leon (Blue): A charismatic, kind hearted warrior.
- Gozyu Tyranno (Yellow): Naïve but incredibly powerful. The first T-Rex themed Sentai hero not to be red.
- Gozyu Eagle (Green): A fun loving and agile playboy.
- Gozyu Unicorn (Black): The first female black hero in Super Sentai history, known for her cool, family oriented nature.
The Tega Sword, a multipurpose transformation item and weapon, also transforms into the team’s giant robot, capable of five unique formations:
- TegaSword Red ( Ring + Tegasword)
- TegaSword Blue ( Ring + TegaSword + LeonBuster)
- TegaSword Yellow ( Ring + TegaSword + TyrannoHammer)
- TegaSword Green ( Ring + TegaSword + EagleShooter)
- TegaSword Black ( Ring + TegaSword + UnicornDrill)
This innovative mecha adds a dynamic new element to battles as well as bringing a fresh idea onto the table!
The Plot and Exciting New Features
Gozyuger pits its heroes against the “Number One Monsters,” elite enemies from the evil army. The team also competes to collect “Sentai Rings,” relics tied to past Super Sentai teams, adding an intriguing rival dynamic. The number one monsters use the powers of past Sentai. Additionally rivals with the powers of red heroes from previous teams will appear, leading to “Sentai vs. Sentai” battles.
Behind the Scenes: A Star Studded Creative Team
The series boasts a powerhouse production team:
- Scriptwriter: Akiko Inoue, known for her contributions to Kamen Rider Gotchard and is notably the daughter of Toshiki Inoue who is known for writing Avataro Sentai Donbrothers and various other shows.
- Director: Ryuta Tazaki, a veteran of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai series.
- Music Composer: Kan Sawada
- Action Director: Hirofumi Fukuzawa who has been action director from GoBusters to Donbrothers as well as Kamen Rider Gotchard.
Producer Keisuke Shibataka promises that Gozyuger will honour the franchise’s rich history while forging an exciting path forward. With a mix of nostalgia and innovation, it’s designed to captivate both newcomers and longtime fans.
As part of the 50th anniversary festivities, Toei has planned numerous events, starting with the release of the Super Sentai 50th Anniversary Countdown. Fans are encouraged to join in celebrating this remarkable milestone and experience the joy of Gozyuger’s debut.
