Dig out your Zyusouken and call upon this addition to your SMP collection! Dragon Caesar returns to the Minipla line once more!
Hey y’all and good day everyone, Scott here with another SMP to show you…
Picture this; it’s the desolate dystopia of 2025. Hasbro have completely stopped Power Rangers. Fans have no more seasons of the show to get excited about. Digital Eclipse release MMPR: Rita’s Rewind; a cool new action game calling back to old skool arcade action games of the 1990s; you see the Dragonzord in the game unleashing fury like nothing else. You think “Wow, I need me one of those” and alas, you see nothing available that isn’t either second hand or marked up to a huge unattractive price. Hasbro (the toy company) failed and fumbled to capitalise once more. Oh Hasbro…
But what’s this?! A light at the end of the tunnel! Why, it’s our old friends Bandai Japan coming to our aid with none other than the Dragonzord itself, now in a clear colour variant that adds a level of style unlike previous incarnations. That’s right! In a move that’s very timely apt, Dragon Caesar (Dragonzord) is releasing again in the SMP line.

Not completely unexpected, Dragon Caesar comes after the SMP Daizyuzin (Clear Colour Version) revealed back in April and released in August. If you want to refresh yourselves on the details of Daizyuzin, hit the link below:

Anyhow, let’s get a quick look at this magnificent piece of kit before you inevitably put your preorders in…

Starting with the chest, we can already see an incredible difference between the original and the upcoming clear version. The translucent elements of the renewed kit certainly add a more ‘premium’ look; even the stickered areas in the new kit look upgraded.

While the original kit has a brighter green, the Clear Version opts for a darker, albeit nicer, shade of green. For the black coloured elements, the team at Bandai have added silver stickers to avoid the natural plastic darkening the already dark green.

In the original kit, the green elements on the gold arm pieces utilised a sticker that covered the entire green surface; that’s not the case here. In order to keep the green elements translucent, the team at Bandai have made sure the gold ‘details’ would be the only stickered element here. It will no doubt add a slight increase in sticker application difficulty, but hopefully not too much.
You can take a sigh of relief for this next one though…

In the original kit, the soles of the Dragon Caesar were stickered. In the new Clear Colour version, the golden details are hand painted, with the ‘backside’ of the translucent green elements being painted silver and not stickered like the other green elements within the kit. Overall, it certainly adds to that ‘premium’ charm.

Considering how much those soles are shown in the multiple transformed states, the painted details stand out really well! The kit would look really great on any Sentai or Power Ranger fans display!
Lastly, the team at Bandai have confirmed that Beast Knight God King Brachion/Titanus will be getting the Clear Colour treatment next. That’s all for now though!
The SMP Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger Dragon Caesar (Clear Colour Version) will release on Japanese shores May 2025. Don’t delay in getting your orders in! He’s been a big seller in the past; I imagine this won’t be any different.
