From across the different eras, the King of the Monsters is coming to the Marvel Comic Universe in March 2025!
In between all the commotion caused by the Game Awards this week, there’s a chance you missed something big announced by the Official Godzilla Twitter account.

Marvel will once again be publishing Godzilla comics! This time, it won’t be like the original 1977-1979 comic book series, published by Marvel by writer Doug Moench, artist Herb Trimpe and others, or like the more recent Godzilla variant covers from this June (which you can find here), this will be “at least” six original one-shots across the eras of the Marvel Universe and, you would assume, era appropriate versions of Godzilla as well.
The first one announced is Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1, by writer Ryan North (Fantastic Four) and John Romita Jr. (The Amazing Spider-Man). The tale will pit Marvel’s first family against Galactus and his newest herald, King Ghidorah.
From Ryan North’s Bluesky post about the news, we know this takes place in the 1960s, shortly after they had their first run in with Galactus. For context, this was during Fantastic Four issues 48-50. To find out more about that, I personally would recommend watching ComicPop’s back issues episode on it, here.
The covers for the first crossover have already been released.

If I had to put on my speculating hat on for a moment and try to deduce what the other currently planned five one-shots could be, I would like to point out the other heroes in the beautiful promo art. We have Spider-Man, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Thor, She-Hulk, Hulk, Iron Man, Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, Thing and the Human Torch. It’s more likely than not that these heroes will be featured in the rest of this series.
From here, sorting them into six books is pretty easy: Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, Hulk, Spider-Man, and Black Panther. The eras of each is still in question, other than the fact I’m betting on X-Men being the 90s because of the animated series, as well as the success of X-Men 97.
Finally, we can all agree that Tony Stark is definitely going to build his own MechaGodzilla / “Godzilla Buster” armour, right ? It will likely go rogue, forcing everyone to team up with Godzilla to defeat it. Are we likely to see a Godzillafied version of my girl Rouge after she tries to absorb Godzilla’s powers? These seem like really obvious hype moments. Stay tuned to my eventual reviews to see what we end up getting!
What do you think? Are you excited for this series of comics? The phrasing makes it sound like there could be more if these sell well, so who would you like to see crossover with Godzilla? As always I’ve been Ethan: Writer, reviewer and analyst of crossovers for The Toku Source. I will see you then!
