Over a year on from Kamen Rider Legend’s debut in the Gotchard VS Legend, we seem to be getting teasers for a gorgeous return! Join Ethan as they explore and break down what’s happening.
What’s the Rumor? What We Know So Far
On December 7th, the official Gavv Twitter (X) account shared the following:
This was closely followed by another tweet, this one to promote the newly uploaded Henshin Lesson video to their YouTube channel. The video is region locked to Japan, so no use embedding it here!
And reposted this from Kaguya’s actor, Seiichiro Nagata, who was also promoting his appearance on the YouTube channel.
In additionally to all of this, the following image has been making the rounds on some of the typical leaker accounts.
You may be wondering why I’m not naming them like I would normally. Frankly, a lot of these leaker accounts are just getting their information from places like 2chan, and other anonymous forums so, speaking personally, I don’t feel super great crediting them for the source of the information. They’ve likely poached it from somewhere else. Going forward, I won’t unless given a notable reason, or the official source of the information.
My Take
Quick personal note before I get into my take on all of this, the first Rumour Mill article was about Legend and it’s so nice to come back to this series over a year later still talking about my favourite golden guy.
Honestly, it makes a lot of sense to bring Legend back in some form. It fits in with their stated plans for Legend that was brought up in the Gotchard extra material.
Additionally, the anniversary style stuff always sells well and, I have to imagine, having a guy show up to actually use the Legend Rider gimmick stuff can only help sales, right ? Between Zi-O and Decade’s actors being really busy most of the time, it makes sense why they would make a new Rider and cast someone they would be able to get back easier – likely also locking in a bunch of appearances into their contract, too. Unlike the aforementioned anniversary guys, I can see Legend being a returning figure each year, with a new driver or weapon that uses the new items to give new views a crash course on Legend Riders, and also serve as an in-universe explanation for why newer Riders know who older Riders are and vice versa.
I think the real question, however, is will this be a TTFC web special or an in show appearance? Now that we know the Gotchard X Gavv winter movie crossover is not happening, will we be getting more than just the one returning Rider? Of course, at the moment, all we know is at least Legend is likely to make a return and I, for one, am very excited.
