The King of the Monsters officially steps on the battle bus, capping off the trailer for the game’s latest update! How accurate was Ethan’s rampant speculation? Let’s jump in and find out!
About a week ago, I reported on discussion on the possibility of Godzilla collaborating with both Rocket League and Fortnite due to the presence of Monarch’s logo in one of the teasers for Rocket League’s new season. Since then, trailers for both game’s next season of content are out and we can now say confidently that the Monsterverse is only collaborating with one of these games. This makes sense, since reasonably you would want to stagger these out so as not to spread things out too thin. With all that said, let’s take a look at the trailer for the Monsterverse’s first crossover with Epic Games!
Before I launch into my patented “Ethan compares the actual reveal of information to things they speculated/what they saw with their scarily accurate foresight *smug*”, we need to go over and talk about what exactly the collab will entail, as the community have already pretty much worked a lot of it out.
King Kong, as well as Godzilla, were spotted in the copyrights for the trailer likely meaning everyone’s favourite wonder of the world will likely also be making their Fortnite debut alongside their big screen costar.
As well as skins, the large Godzilla we see in the trailer will roam the map as a boss, similar to past seasons having a giant Dr. Doom do the same. Supply crates will be Monarch themed and, I would imagine that as well as a King Kong/Godzilla scale pickaxe like the one in the movie, there may be gun skins themed on Monarch as well.

Rocket League will likely see customisable car parts/skins based on Godzilla, another kaiju (probably King Kong) … For Fortnite, we have a lot more options … Could Godzilla show up as a map hazard of some kind? … Godzilla but the Monsterverse as a whole makes me think there could be more to it than that. Very easily, I could see a lot of the early parts of the season’s story be players working with Monarch, building up to Godzilla making his appearance in the skin store and game as a whole, possibly as a way to change up the map mid season. What better way than to explain what wiped out Tomato Town than by having a kaiju show up and stomp though there?
Between calling Kong being the prime(ate) pick for another kaiju to include in the collab, to Godzilla being a map hazard (what are giant roaming bosses if not a hazard, really), the players working with Monarch (they are giving players supply drops, I’m counting that), as well as the cover image for that last article, I correctly predicted the final shots of the latest trailer. I do declare that I get to be pretty smug predicting all of that!
In way of a small update, now that the Godzilla skin is out, you can make the King of the Monsters hit The Griddy. We also have conformation of something else that I made an joke about in my last article also being real…
A slam dunk all round.
