Warning: The following content may contain spoilers for Power Ranger Prime #1.
Power Rangers Prime #1 Crosses Over Heroes and Lore as the Timeline is Rewritten

Lauren Shiba is taken into the spotlight within a dystopian Earth, surprising fans with the occupation of the Eltarians. The known timeline is completely thrown out as the history of Power Rangers is rewritten, causing huge waves of Morphin dread. Featuring a mix of iconic characters and lore adaptations, the first issue of the new story adds new characters into an all inclusive rerun of iconic characters from patches of the Grid.
Lauren Enters a Darker Life As Eltar Changes The World

The female Red Ranger is struck by a change of circumstance as the renowned hero is made into an outlaw. The premiere issue throws the audience into a world where Power Rangers are hunted by Eltarians, leading to a big introduction for the new Earth. However, her gritty escape opens the door for new characters to step forward. Mark, Jun, and Valentina are some of the new faces that present themselves in the first issue, with each adding their own quirk to a futuristic school life.
Discovering the new timeline is one of the biggest reveals from the premiere as it outlines the Beast Brigade and how Eltarians came to Earth. However, it was shocking to see Lauren’s take as she reveals to the reader just how much the timeline has been affected. With the timeline affected as far back as 1954, it was astonishing to find out how much has been erased from what fans know. However, the details provided give an excellent background, including Earth becoming the 205th colony. It will be interesting to see just how much the world shows more changes, including just how many seasons could have been erased by the new continuum.
Inclusion of Familiar Lore With New Characters

Familiarity is given to the new characters of the story as we are introduced to the kind half-Aquatarian, Mark. This development was a nice twist on the Mighty Morphin nostalgia while fellow student Jun was used to highlight the Eltarian occupation. The Eltarian-based Earth Security Taskforce also added more spice to the mix, with Jun bringing down the heat as the intensity climbs. Admiral Janessa is also a new Eltarian given the spotlight who feeds the suspicions of the new world.
It’s clear that Jun is teasing an allegiance towards Rangers, but the story has provided a tale-sign that Morphin powers are hated. Jun’s mother, Janessa, also teasers this silenced condemnation of Power Rangers that makes it seem more could be at play. Its brilliant how much the first issue draws in the audience as a mystery that could point to a complex evil we have yet to see. It’s also clear that the Eltarians are aware of Morphers, with Lauren’s Morpher being shot and destroyed heightening anticipation and suspense.
Surprising Faces and Shocking Trooper Crossover

Despite the erasure of the known timeline, fans are treated to some big returns with the changed history. Orion from Andreasia is one of the characters that added a spin as the Megaforce character becomes an official resident that helps Lauren. It was a surprise to see the Silver Ranger appear in the story, adding even more questions to an abundant list. It was delightful to see him integrated with the new characters of the story, as new faces emerge throughout the pages.
However, the biggest highlight of the premiere is the introduction of the VR Troopers within this altered Morphin world. Brad interacting with the new characters provided excitement and added major teasers into the story going forward. This was highlighted by the VR Troopers fighting for the Earth with the authority of the Eltarians, while the darkside of events was revealed with Lauren and Orion. It will be interesting to see how the inclusion of the 90’s Tokusatsu adaptation will affect the story as it progresses.
Final Teaser Raises the Bar

The final scene also links directly to the opening of the premiere issue, providing a massive cliffhanger that will cause a spike in excitement. There are many questions that relate to the world and characters from Mighty Morphin, but Rita Repulsa is one of the most significant. Lauren being found wounded in the ‘dumpster’ also acts like an ironic link that could have been a clever hint towards the next reveal. The delightful grief will be the new appearance for the iconic villain, since it will cause the fandom to erupt with questions that will haunt their minds until answered.
For an astonishing premiere that teases a whole mixture in a new world, we give Power Rangers Prime #1 a total score of 9 out of 10.
