A new trademark, No.1 Sentai Gozyuger, has been filed by Toei, officially confirming the title of the next Super Sentai series!
Toei Company Ltd. has officially registered the trademark for the 49th Super Sentai series under the name No.1 Sentai Gozyuger. The trademark was recently approved by the Japanese Intellectual Property Database. This upcoming series will follow the 48th instalment, Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger, and is filed under trademark number 2024-133997.
No.1 (Ichi) could be a play on the word Inochi which is life in Japanese. Given it is strongly rumoured that Gozyuger will be an animal themed Sentai, this would fit. Moreoverm the number one could also be a pun on barking (“Wan” in Japanese) which could fit with wan of the rumoured motifs which is a red wolf!
The name Gozyu is also likely be a play on the Japanese word for 50 (Go Juu), hinting at the approaching 50th year of Super Sentai, a significant milestone! Additionally, Zyu can be translated as “beast” in Japanese.

So here’s something weird that I noticed (and probably only I care about), this is the first series where the “sentai” prefix isn’t written in kanji (excluding JAKQ and Battle Fever which didn’t have such prefixes in the first place). It’s bizarre since even older series with English prefixes like “Engine Sentai” Go-Onger and “Avataro Sentai” Donbrothers still found a way to incorporate kanji into the name.
Side note, I find it kinda disappointing that so much of the new seasons seem to get leaked before we even have the trademark. Like, I miss when the hype started with the trademark, and we get that intense fan speculation up until the catalogue scans (which basically never happen nowadays either 🙁 )
