The Sentai Summary: Boonboomger Episode 33 Reunites Team With Simply Potent Champion Mode

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger finally sees Genba return to the team as the five heroes gain a simple, yet powerful, new mode. Episode 33 pits the team against Mad Rex, as emotions finally breakthrough to BunOrange for a high hype debut.

Boonboomger debuts the Champion mode for the first time as the 33rd episode instantly drops fans into the action. Two Kurumajyu and the revived general cause trouble for the team, but dramatic realisations bring home their missing teammate. With the Sanseasters working hard, Mad Rex is pushed into a final confrontation that brings a fantastic new power onto the series.

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger features the third wave of releases for the 48th Sentai this Autumn, featuring the Champion Changer. The new mode provides a jacket for the team to use, with a new large scale Boonboom car. The Boonboom Champion Carrier will be unleashed in later episodes with the DX toy already available for purchase. Up until now, the team have remained incomplete as a storyline featuring Genba and Disrace caused BunOrange to part ways since episode 27.

Boonboomger #33 Instantly Accelerates into Reunion for Dynamic Powerup

The 33rd instalment of the 48th Sentai dives straight into the thick of battle as the team deals with the Hashiryans’ latest plan. The episode debuts the brand new Champion mode, that has a simple look for a potent ability. Both Genba and Mad Rex are driven into a momentous fight that removes Disrace’s hand from their steering wheel. The route grants fans a great touching moment from the cast that blasts them into a satisfying new level of the story.

Hashiryan Develop Greater Struggle As Features Elevate

The episode pushes the audience straight into the fight with the use of two Kurumajyu variants to split the team. The Ishiyakiimoki Grumer (Stone Roasted Sweet Potatoes) and Renga Block Wall Grumer (Brick Wall) create a tense situation for the team, with Sakito fighting Mad Rex. It was great to see a lot of pressure placed on the incomplete team straight off the bat, creating an influx of obstacles before moving on to big moments.

Seeing the Sanseaters work hard for Mad Rex also adds to their charm, making them a great trio of antagonists to root for. The twists added by Disrace continued the trend of exceptional performance in an episode, especially with his mysterious search coming up empty. The main features included his reaction to Mad Rex emotionally responding to his remarks about turning the trio into puppets. It was amazing to see the dance between the evil characters of the Sentai, with each moment contributing to their personalities, and the bonds between the trio and the revived general.

Genba Finally Connects

It was fantastic to finally see Genba reconnect with his teammates, starting with his exchange with Mad Rex. Seeing him with the recently defeated general was a great way to establish a bridge between them. The comparison of losing their wheel to Disrace provided the perfect substance for the episode, while finally allowing BunOrange to connect and resonate with the words of other characters.

The emotional display of Satoru Soma was a highlight of the episode, with Saibu and Bundorio helping flesh out the instance. His reaction to the premade jacket was a brilliant resolution to his anger driven solitary. It was also great to see him finally relay the message about Mad Rex and also see the reactions of the team to his long awaited return. It was satisfying to see Mira and Jou’s reaction after trying to reach out for various episodes. Using Genba to deliver the Champion Changer was also a nice layer of icing to a multifaceted episode, which fit the expected use of the character.

From ToQ Gifts to Epic Power Debuted

The episode adds a minor yet memorable debut as Sakito combines the ToQ Ressha with Byunbyun Mach Robo. The ToQ Custom Mode was an oddity but it was a great way for BunViolet to overcome Mad Rex. Although its use was short, it was great to see the continued benefit from the ToQger crossover. It also helped layer the episode alongside the drama and tense events before finally providing the highly anticipated new mode.

The use of Champion Boonboomger perfectly fits as a reward for a reunited team. The transformation was a nice addition to the episode, but the overall look is much too simple compared to the 119 modes. However, the use of the mode provided the most satisfying aspect of the mode, creating an incredible combat sequence. The use of the emblems of the shirt as a customisation of strikes invoked an awe response with each Boonboom car featured.

Action Into Satisfying Sadness

The combat in the episode was scaled perfectly for each side, enabling the rise of the new Champion mode. Seeing the amount of damage dealt by Mad Rex felt like the pivotal moment, after such amazing devastation. The attacks from the team with car silhouettes created a high impact impression of the fight. It was also cool to see BunBlack gain a shooting ability from activating the Patrol Car 2 Custom, followed by an epic, team activated final attack, with the back of the jacket tapped by each member.

BunViolet also had a nice side finale, but it was odd to see him finish both Kurumajyu in one shot while blocking. It would have been better to have him perfectly time the shot to surpass the defence since it would have synced with his high speed capabilities. The ending of the episode also suited the story, since Mad Rex chose to leave to stop Disrace’s plan. It was a great finish, as he says goodbye to the trio without them knowing, which impacted his final scene for a memorable conclusion.

For an emotionally driven reunion that provides a satisfying new mode, we give Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger a total score of 9 out of 10.

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger will air episode 34 on Sunday October 20th, 2024, exclusively in Japan. The next instalment of the 48th Sentai series will feature the debut of Boonboom Champion Carrier as they clash with the Boonboom Killer Trailer.
