Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger goes all out with curry and introduces a gripping connection to Ressha Sentai ToQger in episodes 31 and 32. The latest episodes of the 48th Sentai have set up an amazing road to a reunited team, with Mira and amazing legendary veterans.
Curry shenanigans finally feature in a full length episode with a cursed twist to spice up the sincerity and humour. The episodes also place Genba under great strain, leading to an amazing return of ToQ #6. After a heated battle between meals, cars meet trains and concentrates on the comparison between two orange heroes.
Bakuage Sentai Boonbomger is keen to debut the new Champion form teased in recent episodes. The team has been fighting incomplete as BunOrange remains consumed by his rage for Disrace taking his home planet. Genba is also the fifth official orange hero in the Super Sentai Series, with most having alien or inhuman backgrounds apart from Battle Cossack. Ressha Sentai ToQger featured the first orange hero during 2016 as the sixth hero, with a backstory of a foe turned good.

Boonboomger has included a fantastic highlight on the curry reoccurrence by adding Hashiryan chaos. This is followed by an amazing return of Shin Nagahama as Ressha Sentai’s Akira Nijino. Bundorio finally shows his skills as Mira steps up to a new challenge, while the others are manipulated by a time altering curse. The episodes also place events for Genba as his rage finally collides with circumstances that outline to the character that the hero is not alone.
Boonboomger #31 Adds Curry Centric Run That Adds Humour and Passion

Mira and the team are brought into a fantastic curry focused episode that provides a humorous new venture from the Hashiryan. Sakito and Byun D are dragged in an unexpected trap that also threatens a local business that Mira decides to help. The episode features a return of the Clock Grumer with a great new plan from Disrace. The episode also brings Bundorio’s quirk into focus, providing a great mix of action, drama, and laughter for the audience.
Curry vs. Curry Provides Great Hangup to Overcome

The episode has a brilliant way to introducing the latest opponent as the villains scheme with Mad Rex still present. It was brilliant to see both sides of the story starting with Sakito discovering the curry he ordered instantly finished after just one spoonful. It was great to see Sakito suddenly leave and react after Byun D find him. Mira is also helping another person as an employee as she tries to help the new owner make the curry like her father used to. It was great to see the others lend a hand, but Taiga’s status finally becomes a hangup as Mira points out that his money won’t help in the situation.
However, the highlight of the episode was seeing Bundorio finally take his curry hype further. This included him coming to help with their mission to solve the mystery of the recipe, while the others stake out the competition. The episode also gave some great background regarding the character curry obsession, including how happy he made Taiga the first time he made a curry. It was great to see this established for a trope that has been around for the whole series.
Brilliant Shenanigans Lead to Heartfelt Joy

The reaction of Sakito instantly losing his Curry after one bite is just as potent when Jou and Ishiro suffer the same problem. It was brilliant to see the reveal of the Sanseaters working with Disrace and the Time Grumer to create the cursed curry. These events gave a great lighthearted vibe to the episode in the series, but also add some interesting variety that was hard to guess the resolution. The need for the curry also fed perfectly into becoming an indoctrinated threat for Taiga, adding a nice resistance to a quick fix.

The realisation of the recipe regarding a longer cook time was a great way to illustrate the passion from the characters. Seeing Mira and Bundorio work together to recreate a lovingly made curry was delightful. It was also a brilliant method to defeat the effects of the cursed curry. Seeing Mira simply thrust it into everyone’s mouths was amusing but the amazed reaction from the cleaners, and the crying reaction from Ishiro and Jou, invoked smiles and laughter.
High Intensity Combat With Genba’s Limits In The Spotlight

The episode had some great combat moments in the series, which started with Taiya trying to help his teammates. Mira joining the fight after directing everyone to their pop up curry store featured some amazing moves. This includes seeing energetic kick and strike, followed by a fantastic special with the Boonboom Handle. The four finishing the Kurumajyu also kept these amazing effects active, adding a satisfying finish for the ground fight.
Genba also featured in an impactful scene in his true form as he infiltrates the Hashiryan’s new base to seek Disrace. It was great to see the set up for Disrace’s return led to this encounter between BunOrange and Mad Rex. The fight finally revealed how much of Mad Rex was awoken, with him helping Genba in exchange for telling BunRed to finish him. It was great to see Mad Rex’s dire situation spoken, followed by a failed assassination that shows how strong Disrace is. Seeing BunOrange completely outmatched by Disrace showcased how tricky the foe is, while also highlighting Genba’s limitations as a core team hero.
Great Mecha Battle Cools Down to Nice Save

The battle against the giant Clock Grumer was met with Boonboomger Robo 119, a perfect fit for a curry episode. Mira also took the driver’s seat for the Robo, and it was well earned for the one delivering the save for the team. Both the Robo and the Kurumajyu had attacks that seemed very similar to Timeranger, which was a great use of the theme and nostalgic for Sentai fans.
The mecha fight was brief but it was great to see Mira take the wheel by taking Taiga’s weapon for the hydro finisher. It seemed fitting for this formation to be the choice in the curry episode but it would have been interesting to see heat based attacks used more to correlate. The episode was nicely finished by Sakito finding a badly wounded Genba, which was a simple and smooth way to hold the anticipation for the next instalment.
Boonboomger Episode 32 Adds Best Crossover of Series With ToQger

Fans are treated to another Sentai crossover that highlights the 10th anniversary of Ressha Sentai ToQger. The episode perfectly continues from the recovery of Genba, as Sakito and Byun D try to restore him. The episode also features two fantastic guest appearances of Shin Nagahama as Akira Nijino and ToQ #1 voiced by Jun Shison. Along with the train themed, Senro Grumer, the episode starts to break Genba out of his rage centred mindset.
Links Established Between Orange Heroes

The introduction of Akira was perfectly added as Sakito and Genba argued once more by featuring his iconic recorder tune. It was a joy to hear such a memorable piece of ToQger used to invoke excitement for his entrance. The episode quickly turned erratic as Akira got the two to sort it out physically in a sumo fight, which added laughter that transitioned into drama.
This paved the way for Akira to reveal his history as a Shadow, simply looking for a place to die. It was amazing to see this backstory for the sixth hero to be used as a comparison for Genba. Although we never saw ToQ #6, his presence and words finally made an impact on Genba. Without even needing to confirm his Sentai status, it was brilliant to create a connection between the orange heroes that finally saw Genba change his speed.
Building Up the Future for Champion Power

There was a great teaser for the episode that showed more development for the Champion mode fans have seen previews for. This includes the squad working on the jackets back at the base, outlining the materials used for it. It was great to see them actively creating their next powerup together, while also highlighting the sci-fi nature of the materials from Bundorio. It was also funny to see a sewing machine used but Mira noticing the orange material showed a lot of yearning and hope for their missing teammate.
Fantastic Foe Twisted

The new Kurumajyu was a nice change of circumstance since the Sanseaters created this monster without Disrace. Seeing Itasha trip and using the key on the tracks instead of the cart was a delightful touch. The ability of the monster was also interesting since it forced people to connect like additional carts. There was also humour running throughout, along with the drama, as the Sanseaters were ironically the first to be linked. It was also a laugh to see Jou be the first trap for the team, followed by everyone else apart from Taiga and Sakito.
The interruption of the threat was also perfectly timed as it then trapped Genba, Akira and Byun D right as a breakthrough started. Seeing Genba’s reaction with Mira, Ishiro, and Jou added that outline that things were beginning to change for BunOrange. BunViolet also heightened the tension as the Senro Grumer revealed he would explode if he were stopped. This is a shock for all attached to him, which adds to the whimsical humour in the episode.
Crossing Action with Epic Appearance

The quick thinking from Taiya and Sakito to create energy like tracks perfectly suited the theme of the episode. This was outlined by Akira as he mentions the use of imagination as a power to create. However, the incredible return of the Rainbow Line trains featured the long awaited appearance of ToQ #1. The action instantly saw amazing features of the 38th Sentai return, including the cannon and the transfer ability that saw ToQ #1 transfer from red, to yellow and then Green,
There was also some great use of the special from the cannon to bring Ticket as the method to disconnect everyone from the monster. The team working together to fight all foes was a spectacle to see, providing one of the best crossovers for a modern Sentai series. The finisher was also a perfect visual that merges both Sentai together. The only oddity is that we never saw ToQ #6 join the fight, but there was still a lot of great action from the Sentai series.
Final Gifts From Ressha Sentai

However, the giant fight also allowed for BunViolet to pilot ToQ-Oh with ToQ #1. It was a laugh to see the struggle and led to an unexpected pull off of the controls so Sakito could place in his ByunByun Controller. ToQ #1’s reaction to it working was an extra layer of delight that fit the vibe of the 38th Sentai. There were also some great special attacks featured in the episode, including disassembling the tracks and a brilliant crossover finisher that even merges the Boonboom Trailer and Red Ressha together.
The attacks throughout from the giant Kurumajyu and both Robos continued to provide entertaining visuals for viewers. The final surprise was seeing ToQ #1 suddenly leaving his Robo to Sakito, with Jun Shison treating fans to a look at Raito as he looks today. It was amazing of Shison to provide this delight for fans, even though his schedule made it difficult for him to do more.
