First Look At Champion BoonBoomger Powerup and Robo Champion Mecha

As Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger races into its fourth quarter, the team is dressed to impress in their latest powerup, with a brand new mecha on the way. Buckle up for all the details from the latest TV-Kun magazine issue! Spoilers, obviously…

Zooming headfirst into its 3rd Lap storyline, BoonBoomger is set to rev things up a notch with it’s newest additions to the car centric Sentai’s arsenal. The Champion BoonBoomger transformation is stylish and sleek, able to be utilised by each member of the core five, with a different coloured jacket for each of them. Alongside the new powerup comes the Robo Champion mecha, presumably the last, and biggest, robo gattai to be used by the main team.

Get your seatbelts on, as we take a ride through all the info released!

Champion BoonBoomger

The first all team power up since Donbrothers’ Robataro Gears, Champion BoonBoomger goes for a ‘less is more’ approach, switching out the typical Sentai armaments for a stylish jacket.

Champion BoonBoomger is accessed via the newest BoonBoom Vehicle: the Champion Carrier. This little blue truck is attached to the back of the BoonBoom Changer, activating the powerup.

The attire itself is clearly inspired by ones you would see worn by racing drivers, complete with different emblems of the various BoonBoom Cars, in place of real life branding logos. At the back is a design featuring all five helmets of the core team (sorry BunViolet!).

These emblems aren’t just for show, but actually provide the BoonBoomgers with the different abilities of the BoonBoom Cars: called a Customise! By tapping the respective patches, BoonBoomger can summon a multitude of powers from each of their trusty miniature vehicles.

So far, the magazine scans show off five different Customises:

  • Wagon Customise – A giant hand on the BoonBoom Handle;
  • Marine Customise – Laser shark bullets for the BoonBoom Handle to shoot;
  • Racing Customise – Changes the Handle into a fire sword;
  • Patrol Car 2 Customise – Allows the Change Axe to dual wield;
  • Shovel Customise – Super strength.

Considering how genius the marketing of the Premium Bandai’s BoonBoomger clothing line has been, it would come as no surprise if the Champion jackets wound up as genuine clothing for fans to buy and wear!

Robo Champion

From simple and clean, to extravagant and huge, here’s our first look at the new mecha: Robo Champion!

Doubling as a powerup and a mecha, the Champion Carrier combines with the BoonBoom Trailer, BoonBoom Off-Road and BoonBoom Wagon. This mighty beast of a mecha can utilise the other vehicles to switch out different armaments, weapons and abilities. It also sports the five helmets of the Rangers on its shoulders, much like the back of the Champion jacket!

Just like any good carrier truck, the Champion Carrier can load up to six BoonBoom Cars in its trailer. By attaching the newly revealed BoonBoom Suiso Car, this Patrol Car 2 repaint acts as boosters for the truck, allowing the Champion Carrier to… fly into space. If Toei can find any excuse for a potential Dekaranger crossover in space, they’ll find it!

These new additions to the BoonBoomgers’ arsenal are expected to release during the show’s fourth quarter of the fiscal year, potentially around October time.

That’s all we have on the fashionable Champion powerup and bulky Robo Champion for now, thanks to the latest scans from the upcoming TV-Kun issue. It’s certainly gearing up to be an exciting couple of months for Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger: from new transformations, to new mecha, to the fast approaching crossover with ToQ Ichigou! The BoonBoom is definitely not stopping for now!
