SODO Sundays – September 1st, 2024

Pop another gummy for more Kamen Rider Gavv. SODO Sundays presents a Kamen Rider Gavv takeover!

Good day everyone! Scott here with another SODO Sunday; a very tasty one at that! Episode 1 of Kamen Rider Gavv has aired this morning and, likewise, a lot of toys and merchandise have dropped on Japanese shores! As a ‘candy’ toy article series, the year of Gavv is one we shall thrive in!

Today we take a deeper look at SODO Kamen Rider Gavv #1 or rather, just the Gavv figure itself, with some extras. We’ll also be taking a look at the candy offerings, which (by the way) can be ordered here at The Toku Source!

Without further ado, let us make room for seconds…

SODO Kamen Rider Gavv

Here’s the snack himself: Kamen Rider Gavv. I say it to myself every year (before I became the writer of SODO Sundays); the SODO figures keep getting better!

This year, SODO will be “returning to origins” with removeable armour for all of it’s forms! This means less figures and thus, less plastic. Now you can buy the base figure and attach any alt. form armour to the base figure!

I reckon some will see this as a step back of course. To have all forms displayed simultaneously, you’re gonna need multiple Gavv Poppin Gummy forms rather than pick up your form of choice and obtain a completed figure out of the box (after basic assembly and sticker applying).

Speaking of which, here is how the base will look before changing forms! I wonder if we’ll see this in the show as a form between forms like many Rider mid transformation states.

Of course, articulation is still high priority with Bandai Candy Toy figures! There’s no better evidence of that than the gallery below showing all the range of motion…

And now the highlight of the figure…

The Poppin Gummy armour! All moulded in translucent plastic! I especially love the colour gradient on the chest. And the natural shine? Perfect!

As you can see, the back of the armour has been painted silver. It’s to further enhance the colour from the front…

As you can see on the left, the helmet without the silver paint and on the right, with the silver paint. It makes a world of difference and one the Bandai Candy team should be praised for!

Now for a little ‘before’ and ‘after’ applying stickers…

Even before stickers, the figure looks amazing! The addition of stickers really make it ‘pop’ though. Not a pun, I swear!

Kamen Rider Gavv also has his Gavvgablade to cut his foes down to size (preferably yummy gummy sized). Be sure to make use of the attachable Gochi Speeder piece to power up!

Don’t forget to stomp out foes with the Kickin Gummy assist!

For the SODO side of Kamen Rider Gavv, that’ll be all today! Are you ready for another awesome year of Kamen Rider?!

SODO Kamen Rider Gavv #1 is due to release Monday September 23rd. Get your orders in ASAP to avoid disappointment. As usual, info on doing so is at the end!

Kamen Rider Gavv Minipla Set

Dropping tomorrow, Monday September 2nd, is this lovely little candy toy set of Minipla goodies! A nice variety of Gavv related goodness at a modest price point.

I especially love the variety here. It’s very reminiscent of tie in toys you would have seen at something like McDonalds (before everything became cardboard). You get all the necessary gear to decorate your space with your admiration for Gavv!

Also dropping Monday is a variety of treats, such as…

Kamen Rider Gavv Poppin Gummies

That’s right! Real gummies!!!

What better way to celebrate a candy themed rider than with delicious sweet treats?

They certainly do look delicious. Do you know what’s also delicious? This little tidbit of information I have for you all.

These can be specially ordered through here at The Toku Source! As well as the following chocolate treats…

Kamen Rider Gavv Chocolate Treats

First up is these little chocolate wafer snacks. Each pack will be decorated with the visage of either Kamen Rider Gavv or Kamen Rider Valen.

The packaging for each wafer will come with one of many illustrations displaying either a Rider or a Gochizo. There’s also a chance to find a translucent figure of either Gavv or Valen. How high is that chance? I wish I knew, but I hope it’s high enough to get them both myself!

Again, these release on Monday September 2nd!

Don’t forget these tasty-looking treats I’ve previously mentioned a couple of times in the past. Each box ‘will’ come with one die cast figure, either in silver or gold if you’re lucky enough!

Unlike the previous candy, these will be released a week a couple weeks later on Monday September 16th, along with…

The Kamen Rider Niformation series! More specifically, volume 2, featuring Gavv! More wafer treats for your tastebuds to tingle on!

Everything mentioned today can be ordered in! These will be in sets of a limited number, not singular packs! Email us at contact@thetokusource.com or reach out on social media to place your order(s) today!
