After a few weeks off, The Sentai Summary becomes The Sentai Summery and is catching up with the tyre people with a look back(uage) at Boonboomger episodes 22-24, featuring Leon Rescue and more heroic action from BunRed 119!
Episodes 22, 23, and 24 of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger Episodes feature a blazing debut as Leon Rescue counters fire and baseball. The summer focussed episodes of the 48th Sentai add a new Boonboom Car as part of BunRed 119’s arsenal, including themes of Summer and Baseball tied in. After the debut of BunRed 119, the latest additions to the Sentai feature additions to the arsenal of the first powerup. Featuring highlights for different characters, these instalments douse the heat of summer to bring explosive debuts.
Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger features the first powerup as BunRed uses a firefighter based enhancement. BunRed 119 debuted in Episode 21 as Bundorio creates the ZoonZoom Shoka Blaster in response to Taiga’s childhood dream. Super Sentai has featured many powerup modes over the years that often comes with a new weapon and even a specialised mecha. Great examples of this type of upgrade mode include Zenkaiger’s Super Zenkaizer and Ninninger’s AkaNinger Chozetsu.

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger episodes 22, 23, and 24 have featured Boonboom Leon Rescue as part of BunRed 119’s personal arsenal. This includes Tent Grumer providing a fire trap scenario for BunRed to clear, a baseball game warped by the Hashiryan, and historic love highlighted as a continued ache. All episodes place a highlight on the new firefighter mode, but also adds features that involves the whole team and various characters. The baseball game also features a sports conflict as Jou stands against the Glove Grumer, with the first debut of Boonboomger Robo 119.
Boonboomger #22 Combines Dire Summer Camping With Leon Rescue Premiere

The 48th Sentai series places a highlight on the summer season as episode 22 features camping as the primary feature. However, in true Sentai fashion, a new Kurumajyu switches fun to a memorable danger with Tent Grumer capturing a group of young campers. We also see more from Taiga’s mentor, Sakito, shenanigans, and the first appearance of Boonboom Leon Rescue. Although centred on Taiga, many characters get a chance to feature along with some past Sentai reminiscences.
Changing Scenery With Mentor and Rescue Effort

Raita Naito (Katsuhiko Nagato) makes a minor return as Taiga’s mentor is requested to deliver fireworks for his nephew and a camping group of kids. This brings a new environment for fans to experience, which perfectly captures the summer season hype. The focus mainly starts on the kids, including Naito’s nephew but the Sanseaters are granted an uninterrupted Kurumaju debut, creating a better set up for a dire situation. This includes Senji Naito (Jun Saito) narrowly escaping as his teacher and friends are captured by the Tent Grumer.
This opening scene sequence adds a greater amount of suspense, while also bringing some slower acceleration to a stronger plot. The Tent Grumer also has nice spark of danger since he traps the kids, which later becomes worse when transported into a building fire. This episode has brilliant sense of drama for the heroes to overcome, while still bringing a fantastic debut for the Sentai series.
Comedy and Tension Build Up to Amazing New Mecha

There is a great feature building up to release as Ishiro, Mira, Genba and Jou assist Bundorio with the creation of a new Boonboom Car. The humour regarding new powerup requests for Jou and Ishiro add another memorable moment to the 48th Sentai series. Although BunBlack’s idea for his powerup made sense, the number based puns even involved a 007 reference for BunBlue.
It was great to see this mixture of ideas, while also featuring Sakito and Byun D getting trapped in a tent. The duo appears to feature in more amusing instances, that allow the series to include them outside of fantastic action sequences. There was also a showcase of strength as Sakito was able to someone break free. These scenes have allowed all main cast members to join the shenanigans leading up to the main feature of the episode fans were awaiting.
Boonboom Leon Rescue Calls In Sentai Influence

The first debut of Leon Rescue allows the hand off from awesome BunRed 119 transformation and action to a new debut. We get to see a fantastic difference to the switch to mecha as a fire station pole is used for a visually satisfying transfer. The rescue involving the ladder provided a notalgia for many fans familiar with GoGoV, which is wonderful to see visited. The rescue using the ladder function of the Boonboom car provided one of the most iconic moments in the Sentai but capturing the same sequence used by Red Ladder.
The action quickly made a quick change as the lion mode of Leon Rescue debuted after the rescue sequence. This provided some fantastic action for the episode, followed by the activation of the attack mode for many Boonboom Cars. It was great to see a new mecha make the others transform but the Lion King inspired stand was a genius, unexpected feature. Fans also got to see the view from inside the mecha, which provided another moment to create an episode fan will always remember.
Boonboomger #23 Sports a Baseball Integration with Hot New Robo Formation

The Bakuage Sentai features the reoccurring sport integration trope in episode 23, which sees the entire set of characters come together. The sports themed episode feature seen in past Super Sentai features in Boonboomger as Jou highlights the passion of baseball. This includes the Glove Grumer as the foe the team struggle to beat fairly, while also hosting the debut of Boonboomger Robo 119.
Sports Twisted In Favour

The baseball themed episode grants a fantastic use of all characters currently featured as the main cast. This includes Saiba but also includes the Sanseaters and Cannonborg. The development of the kids losing their will to play is met by the idealistic approach of Jou to play against the Hashiryan. This was a silly choice to make instead of a battle, but also became a quick reminder of how dirty the foes act for a win.
It was great to see the sport used in such a potent manner, while also creating suspense as the Hashiryan felt overpowered due to their nonstop running and sinister rules. However, it also was warped into the favour of the heroes as they eventually tackle the challenge given to them by the Glove Grumer and Cannonborg. It was great to see an odd and indirect fight using sport as the conduit, but it also still retained the audience’s attention with dramatic surprises.
Switching to Boonboom Action

There was some relation and character quirks featured in the episode, which included Saiba’s reaction to joining the game. There were some nice moments for each character in the episode, but Jou brought most of the drama. This includes getting hit in the face by the Glove Grumer’s ball, causing a darker moment for the light-hearted character. This episode continues to highlight the fantastic spectrum that Ryu Saito offers the series as he has moments of both comedy and drama that now brilliantly feature in this episode.
The shifting balance then occurs once the team transform and include baseball gear as part of their suits. However, it was brilliant to see their skills quickly switch against the tricky nature of Glove Grumer’s ability to throw the ball in overwhelming ways. This switch was also a great push of pressure, with the energy between Taiga and Jou physically personaified. It was great to see BunRed 119 as the edge needed, leading to a satisfying win of the game and defeat of the monster with a finishing blast.
Boonboomger Robo Formation Combines Latest Addition

The robo battle keeps the theme of fire as the Glove Grumer includes a fiery attribute once more to contend with. However, fans get to see a great set up to Boonboomger Robo calling forth a new combination. The Boonboomger Robo 119 was a great follow up to the event and even featured as a satisfying debut for the episode.
The strikes with water featured a lot in the battle, but there was a great array of attacks and specials featured in the episode to boost the debut. The finisher also had a stunning visual, with a similarity to ZyuOh Whale’s final attack featuring a whip like movement trope for water.
Boonbomger #24 Places Pressure on Pivotal Past

Taiga and Sakito’s most pivotal moment of change is given a chance for emotional damage as the team help out at a class of kids. The Guitar Grumer is the latest attempt to collect Gyahsoline as Cannonborg acts with fury. The audience is taken on a new route as Taiga’s first love is revealed to be a teacher, who helped shape him. Music becomes a centre point as a rainbow song unites the cast while they unleash their leader’s hangup.
Exploring History With Delightful Interactions

The episode places a great deal of focus on Taiga as the story unveils his first love, who helped shape his life. Miss Mahiro was revealed to help Taiga as a child, leading him to create connections with people and even taught him a rainbow song. It was this past that was used as a great weakness for the new Kurumajyu to strike, with the team humorously trying to wake up Taiga and Sakito after protecting the kids.
There were also some delightful moments from all characters as they interact with their target audience. This play featured in the episode was a great way to slow down after recent events but also direct attention to the drama of a past relationship. There was also a light theme of romance as Byun D also reacted with Mira regarding the reveal. It was great to see such character driven moments in this episode before kicking off the action and suspense.
Erupting Evil With Countering Action

Cannonborg finally felt the effects of episodic defeats that originally brought him into the frame. It was great to witness the amount of pressure finally push on to the villain, since it highlights how inadequate the Hashiryan have strived for their goal. The Guitar Grumer also acts as a great opposition to Taiga’s taught gift, along with returning a hangup for Sakito.
Sakito may have left behind his childhood friend, but the guilt was wonderfully highlighted but instantly overcame the illusion. This showcased Sakito’s resolve for this actions, which magnified how impacted Taiga was for losing such a important person in his life. However, the same song saving him from his illusion provided a heartfelt moment that impacted the viewer.

The fact revealed by Cannonborg that Gyahsoline was also made from a person’s life energy was also beautifully used to increase the severity of the situation before it resolved. The action of the episode also added to the drama that unfolded as Sakito kicks off the combat as the others try to help Taiga. The fight after BunRed’s return gave the episode a satisfying journey that featured character development for overcoming a hangup.
Concluding Mecha Battle Adds Factual Information

The episode added a different element to the usual expectation as the Guitar Grumer summons traffic lights. This was used to create a reasonable yet informative aliment against Boonboomger Robo, since the red lights stopped his movement. This was followed by the Boonboom Leon Rescue racing through the lights, revealing to the audience that emergency vehicles were allowed to move through. This was a brilliant follow-up to the debut of the Robo, while adding some originality to the episode.
