Power Morphicon 2024 begins today as the dedicated convention for Power Rangers and tokusatsu enters Day 0. The biannual convention held in Pasadena, California, will feature a range of iconic actors and talents from Power Rangers, Super Sentai, and across various franchises.
The long awaited biannual event for Power Rangers and tokusatsu fans has begun as Thursday August 22nd, 2024 kicks off the convention with Day 0. Power Morphicon 2024 is the perfect opportunity to meet the cast of various Ranger series, including the recently concluded Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers anniversary special, Once & Always. However, the event also includes some significant features, and some dramatic changes compared to past events.
Power Morphicon will host the iconic event that brings fans to the biggest Power Rangers convention that features an abundance of panels and opportunities to interact with the cast of various Power Rangers series. Super Sentai and Japanese toku fans will also be gifted with iconic talents attending thanks to Toku Spirits. The event will also include a magnificent array of additional content from other movies and TV series.
Power Morphicon has been a pivotal event for the Power Rangers fandom, providing a dedicated event specifically for the franchise. The growth led to the convention hosting reveals for the cast of various new seasons, including Power Rangers Samurai up to Power Rangers Dino Fury. The event has now evolved into including Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and other toku series, such as Gokaiger’s Ryota Ozawa appearing during the 2022 event.
Cluster of Amazing Guests
There is an amazing range of guests at this year’s event stretching from the original series to the 30th anniversary releases. This includes casts members from all 30 seasons of Power Rangers but will also include stars from the Super Sentai series and Kamen Rider series, including the first appearances of Kenta Satou, Yui Koike, Masahiro Inoue, and Tetsuo Kurata headline thanks to Toku Spirts.
There are even additional features to the convention, including a Surf Ninjas reunion featuring Ernie Reyes Jr., Nicolas Cowan, and Ernie Reyes Sr. Voice actors such as Paul St. Peter and Sandy Fox will also be in attendance for the event. However, the event will also include a range of panels for attendees to indulge with, including themed panels and fan made projects. These projects include Power Rangers Unworthy, Bloodline Of The Grid, Project Zodiac and other amazing content and fan driven adaptations.
Potential New Content Reveals
BOOM! Studios features the iconic writers from the Power Rangers comics as Darkest Hour concludes the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. A panel featuring Melissa Flores, Ryan Parrott and Kyle Higgins will feature a discussion of the future for BOOM! Studios as they tease a in depth panel. The panel for Saturday in Room A will also include the MassiveVerse, which all three Power Rangers comics writers have also contributed to as the latest superhero comic series.
Significant Difference Compared to Past Events
Although there have been many occasions in the past, it is safe to say that fans won’t be able to see the cast for the next defining season of Power Rangers. This is mostly due to the lack of news regarding the reboot that Hasbro has been reported to be working on since the conclusion of the 30th season. Hasbro in general may be excluded from the event as even the Lightning Collection has been paused since 2023.
This includes nothing for any new figures or weapon class collectible releasing. If a surprise has been lurking in the shadows, there is no signs to point to any form of news that will bring forth hype, anticipation, or excitement. However, there may be some delights featured from the original and fan made content to showcase. This includes Legend of the White Dragon, which features as Jason David Frank’s last project.
