Shuppatsu Shinko! Time to depart and advance into all the new info about ToqGer’s 10th anniversary celebrations!
Its an exciting time to be a Super Sentai fan! Not only is Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger entering its next story arc, the 3rd Lap, but 2024 also marks 10 years since Ressha Sentai ToQger premiered on TV! To commemorate this, a rainbow logo, fitting that of the show, has been made.
With this milestone comes a slew of exciting news and events to look forward to in celebration of ToQger, so hop on the express for a trip through all the latest on ToQger’s 10th anniversary!
Boonboomger x ToQger
In the buildup to Boonboomger’s 3rd Lap storyline, a poster has been revealed, featuring BunRed sporting his champion jacket (quite possibly the coolest look a tokusatsu hero has ever pulled off), and a menacing BunOrange. Most important of all is the appearance of ToQ Ichigo in the top left!
ToQ Ichigo is set to debut in the 3rd Lap arc, though there’s no confirmation yet on whether it will be Jun Shison reprising the role, or Homare Mabuchi coming back as a grownup version of child Right Suzuki.
This crossover seems to be following a trend in recent Sentai, where the currently airing series features a returning ranger show up in the actual show, rather than a V-Cinema release as per the Super Sentai norm.
We saw a variation of this in the form of Zenkaiser Black in Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, but it really came to fruition when Kyoryu Red returned in Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger for several episodes, in celebration of Kyoryuger’s 10th anniversary.
Now that Boonboomger is teaming up with ToQ Ichigo for ToQger’s 10th anniversary, could this be a sign of a new staple for Super Sentai? Could we be seeing a Ninninger 10th anniversary teamup with next year’s Sentai? Only time will tell!
ToQger Blu-ray Collections
The ToQger hype train doesn’t terminate here, as Toei additionally announced a boxset collection of the entire series on Blu-ray!
Split between three sets, the whole collection is packaged neatly in a wonderfully bombastic ToQger box. Special features on the discs include press conferences and behind the scenes documentation.
The Super Sentai Friends site also promises future releases of the ToQger movies, V-Cinema releases and VS films for a low price at a later time.
The three disc collection will cost 39600 yen in total, but for those who’d prefer the individual volumes, the separate collections will cost 13200 yen each.
Tokusatsu… for free?!
On top of all that, the Toei Tokusatsu Official YouTube Channel will be live streaming the ToQger movies and Final Live Tour… for free!
