Former Head Of Power Rangers Reveals Potent Details for Darkest Hour and Series Comics

Former Saban and Hasbro exec, Jason Bischoff, has revealed insider details regarding the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics, including reasons to read the recently published Darkest Hour finale.

As the series concludes, former colleague of writer Melissa Flores during her time at Saban and Hasbro revealed significant facts and thoughts about the BOOM! Studios releases. This includes a full thread on social media regarding the eight year comic series as it features its last instalment.

Jason Bishchoff is renowned for his contributions to the Power Rangers franchise as the former Head of Franchise Operations. Projects such as the 2016 reboot movie, Power Rangers Hyperforce and even video games were part of the releases he helped develop as part of the Saban Brands team, before the transition to Hasbro. This includes discontinued AAA game Project Nomad and SPD Fire Squad for the comics, that sees Deka Ranger joined by a return from Jack Landors as Ranger Prime.

Canon Storyline Synopsis Highlighted By Jason Bischoff

Jason Bischoff reveals key features of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics as it concludes with Darkest Hour finale, including confirmation of the continuity in relation to the TV series as he praises Melissa Flores for taking on the challenges involved. Bischoff unveiled these details on his X account, starting with confirming vital facts for Power Rangers fans.

Cards on the table: Boom’s Power Rangers comics are canon. They were always canon. We designed them to be canon. This is fundamental in understanding Darkest Hour #1 is NOT the technical, canonical end of Power Rangers. Cosmic Fury/Once and Always is (at time of writing).

Bischoff also applauded Melissa Flores for retaining the existing audience while bringing in new readers, as well as converging an eight year universe expansion that involved two different parent companies. While highlighting the incredible work to conclude the series in just 40 pages, Bischoff also highlighted why fans should read the last chapter, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour #1.

Should you read Darkest Hour #1? Absofrigginlutely. Celebrate how far we’ve come. Celebrate Mellisa Flores threading the needle. It’s a weird moment for the franchise. That’s not on Boom, Misty, or anyone else. Just remember ‘Power Rangers forever’ means something. Not the end.

Jason Bischoff

It is fantastic to see this type of confirmation as any fandom loves to see all mediums produce an amazing story that is interconnected and canon. Bischoff also reveals his thoughts on the conclusion of the series, hinting it was the perfect way to end with the events of Once & Always and Cosmic Fury in mind. There is so much potential still residing in a variety of seasons in the Power Rangers universe, but knowing this entire series truly extends the 30 year history is a huge delight.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series has now concluded, with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour #1 now available as the conclusion of the Darkest Hour event. The last comic instalment to the twelve month event is available at your local comic book store and as a digital copy.
