Kamen Rider Gavv: All the Details from the Press Event and Trailer

The time draws near. Just weeks away from the premiere of Kamen Rider Gavv, full details were released via a special programming event on YouTube, foregoing the traditional introductory press conference.

This past weekend, a special programme for the upcoming series Kamen Rider Gavv was live streamed on the official Kamen Rider YouTube channel. The event featured the reveal of the cast, production crew and story, along with a new teaser trailer. Viewers were also treated to several behind the scenes production details. Kamen Rider Gavv is the latest instalment in the Kamen Rider franchise, following Kamen Rider Gotchard!

About Gavv

The teaser visuals released so far showcase a design that’s quite different from previous Riders. Gavv’s motif is sweets, introducing a fresh theme, and his appearance is truly one of a kind. A standout feature is his translucent purple armour, which has a gummy like texture reminiscent of candy. What kind of battles will Gavv engage in with his colourful armour covering his face, chest, arms and legs? There’s also a belt resembling a mouth, with the gimmick, Gochizo, visible inside it.

Moreover, we can also see Kamen Rider Valen, the secondary Rider. Kamen Rider Valen has a chocolate motif following the motif of sweets in this rider season. Rather than a belt Valen uses a gun similar to the A.I.M.S. Riders in Kamen Rider Zero One.

The main protagonist, Shoma, and the antagonists, the Stomach family, both hail from the Granute clan. While being pursued by the Granute, Shoma accidentally stumbles into the human world, a place his mother once called home. Filled with curiosity about this unfamiliar realm, Shoma’s adventure begins. In the first episode, after being discovered unconscious on the beach by a young boy who takes him in, Shoma gets to taste the deliciousness and joy of human snacks for the first time. This experience leads him to create Gochizo, a being who is both his clone and dependent. Shoma also awakens his own powers for the first time, ultimately achieving his initial transformation.

In terms of behind the scenes, it is worth noting that Kamen Rider Gavv started filming relatively early this year with it starting in February. This is due to the fact that Gavv will be airing in China and South Korea simultaneously. Because of this, from the trailer, we can tell that the production team kicked it up a notch in terms of visual effects.

Shoma comes from another world, a realm inhabited by monstrous creatures known as the Granute! These beings capture humans to feed on their happiness, and Shoma suspects they might be responsible for his mother’s disappearance. As he explores the flavours of his new surroundings, Shoma discovers the ability to create Gochizo, granting him the powers of Kamen Rider!
