Recap
Episode 46
Now that humanity’s collective memories have been restored, there are, of course, people who are scared of Chemies, people happy they remember their friends, people who remember their trust in Hotaro, but there are also people that want to turn into Malgams for crime reasons, like the mobsters from episode five. This episode is the source of a lot of returning characters so check out my review, if you need a refresher. Along with Golem Gouriki, the Gorilla Malgam Factor, they ambush Hotaro and Rinne. Their encounter ends when Gaelijah appears, stealing Venomdake and turning one of the mobsters into another Venom Malgam and fleeing. Before this retreat, Gaelijah alchemy tags Rinne’s hand with something, teasing an explanation later. Back at the classroom, our pair reports back what happened and Hotaro argues with Spanner about it. At that moment, reporters break into the classroom protected by the door you can only get into via alchemy. The gang run away, while Sabi and Renge look for the Malgams.

On his way to check on Kyoka and Lachesis, Spanner saves a child being harassed by adults that want to misuse a Chemy. When he arrives at Kyoka’s place, he finds it smashed up and Kyoka bandaging her head. People seeking info on Chemies and alchemy somehow (it’s not fully explained) worked out Kyoka’s place is alchemy related and raided it.

The Mushroom Malgam and Gorilla Malgam Factor start attacking civilians, trying to draw out Hotaro and Rinne. It works and the pair arrive. Hotaro has to think on his feat to get around Nijigon not being able to use Gotchabrothers because the 101 Chemies are no longer united. He fights with Platinum Gotchard and he and Rinne make short work of the Malgams. The episode ends with Spanner hijacking technology and broadcasting everywhere in the way that all bad guys do in toku, stating that the Alchemist Academy have been written out of the show, he is taking over and will personally end the Chemies. As the message ends, his black flames begin to flare up. This was sure to calm people down and was totally distinguishable from an evil villain monologue exuding their darkness aura powers. Yup, super reassuring. Spanner closes leaving Hotaro an ultimatum to hand over the Chemies or he will take them by force. Good luck with that, buddy. You haven’t won a battle in like 30 episodes…

Episode 47
Basically, Spanner’s plan is to use his black flames to transmute all 101 Chemies into himself; a feat that would (for the short time before his body explodes) make him ridiculously powerful, and allow him to beat the Abyssal Kings and create a world without Chemies or Kamen Riders. Like his parents, he will sacrifice his life for the people he cares about. While I love this episode (spoiler alert), we will be coming back to this plan.
After yoinking all 101 Chemies from the gang, with the aid of a bunch of rando alchemist from the now defunct academy, and Hotaro gets a peptalk from wrestler, Asahi, from episode five, our boy sucker punches Spanner as he is moments away from taking all the Chemies into himself. That sounds way dirtier than it is… The two argue, letting out there long pent up feelings and the two transform.

I don’t think I need to tell you how the fight plays out.. especially if you paid attention to the cover of the article. Yup, jobber Spanner doesn’t just lose, he gets his driver destroyed by Hotaro. Classic Spanner. Am I right?

The episode ends with Hotaro and Rinne FINALLY getting something installed to prevent people magic yoinking the Chemies from them. Hotaro reassures Nijigon and Hopper1 that Spanner will be back one day. Gaelijah, after getting her hands on Atropos, activates something on her hand, telling her she will do a ritual that will kill the human model she’s based upon to make her really powerful. The human she’s based on? You guessed it… Rinne.
The Bad
While I really liked this two parter, It really does feel like the civilians remembering plot point was brushed past. I hope it’s addressed properly in a future episode but, seeing how we have only three left, I kinda doubt it and just have to accept Spanner’s evil coded monologue – villain aura and all – was enough to calm everyone down and make them move on.
So, Spanner’s plan. How was Spanner planning getting to the Abyssal Kings before he exploded? He doesn’t know where they are and they could just wait for him to die on his own! We don’t want to see someone we have spent this long getting to know die pointlessly, even if they are such a grump like Spanner. This plan was really dumb and wouldn’t have worked.
Again, classic Spanner.
The Good
Episode 46 was mostly alright and neatly self contained apart from the ending and the detail of Rinne getting magic’d on the hand setting up the ending ritual of the following episode. Everything other than Spanner’s plan, motivation, how he reached his conclusion, all flowed together amazingly. The performances were great, especially Spanner. Yasunari Fujibayashi did a stand out job in his duel with Hotaro.

The Conclusion
The “Geryon watched the summer movie and now we need to prevent the Daybreak timeline” really does seem like the end game, huh? That said, Rinne final form next week! Yippie! Latest secondary final form maybe ever? Regardless, I’m hyped, as usual.
Now that Spanner has lost his driver, and with only three episodes left, there are a couple of questions that I need answered. One: Will Spanner actually get his Driver fixed in time for the finale or is he retiring from Kamen Riding? Two: Now the one true Valvarad, Lachesis, is the only one remaining and she has way more skin the the game with her sisters still causing trouble and the drama with Clotho, IS SHE THE ONE GETTING THE FINAL FORM?! We will have to wait and see… and probably say no, to both…
What did you think of these episodes? Do you want to see Lachesis get the final form for Valvarad? Do you want to see Spanner make a comeback in our last three episodes? As always I’ve been Ethan: Writer, reviewer and a person putting in their application for tertiary Rider opening in Gotchard, and I’ll cya next time.

I doubt they would have the final form of Valvarad use the Valvarusher, since it doesn’t really have any unique sounds for one (I doubt it has a slot for plugins either), so:
A. They repair the driver, and if that happens, Spanner’s probably the one getting it.
B. They make a new driver for Lachesis, in which case, there’s no reason for her to remain as Valvarad, instead of becoming her own rider.
Though that’s justvwhat it thibk, anything could happen.
