Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #119 and #120 Surges Anticipation as Hope Meshes With Devastation

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #119 & #120 features a massive dive into the Darkest Hour as hope spreads and Darkness deepens. Two issues leading up to the finale of the yearlong event invokes greater inclusion for characters from the comic series.

The Darkest Hour features a push into the light as the Rangers tip the balance further in their favour. Just as success starts to mount, the Grid’s infection starts to enter into the dimension featured in the Beyond The Grid arc. This includes a fantastic come back for the main group of Rangers against Dark Spector and the return of the iconic Solar Rangers.

Darkest Hour marks the end to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series as it concludes this July. Boom! Studios revealed that the 12 month anniversary event that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the franchise will feature the end to the 8 year long series. Fans have recently received new news regarding the next upcoming releases for the Power Rangers comics, however, fans will have two incredible releases to look forward to including Power Rangers Infinity #1 and the Ranger-made anthology, Power Rangers: Across The Morphin Grid #1.

MMPR #119 and #120 Tightens the Grid as Developments Increase

The latter instalments of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series brings forth success for the Ranger after pushing through several challenges. Darkest Hour has climbed towards the finale by featuring a break for the heroes, while revisiting characters from past arcs. This includes tense drama from unions and deep cuts into relationships as the Grid infects the hearts of its victims. However, an eruption of advancements finally allows success to break through for key characters.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #119 Finally Adds Reward for Perseverance

The Rangers are finally granted a step forward as #119 features reunions and a spotlight on hope for various characters. With Tommy’s return, a mashup of incidents allow for a plan to develop against the infection. Featuring emotional highs and bigger worries, the issue provides a systematic build up that provides a bridge to a bigger development. As relationships burn high after conflict, strives form as specific character contribute to a chance of success.

From Hits to Power-Ups in Great Clashing incidents

A lot is thrusted at the audience as a range of events take place in this particular instalment of Darkest Hour. Kiya start off the problematic clashes by attempted to interfere with the Power Eggs, creating a great sense of uneasy early in the story. Lord Zedd and Rita also feature as the villainess finally loses motivation after capture. It was interesting to see this significant fall in attitude from Rita, along with a change in appearance that matches closer to her future self.

As fans see more from Taylor and Coinless Trini, the debut of the white shield armour for all the Rangers was a surprising step forward. The feature was given a superb purpose to exist, plus functions exactly as perks associated with protection needed in this story. The use of Two Tiger coins also forced Tommy to give up his powers for the team, which highlights the amazing selflessness of the characters.

Mixing In A Range of Character Relations

The issue instantly features a fantastic range of one on one relationships between characters, following the previous instalment. This includes a loving reunion between Tommy and Kim but also romance between two other couples. This included Matt and Aisha and also the development between Zack and Trini. These moments were great to see as a tribute to the mounting circumstances but also creates a tension for possible fallout and erupt ends if a character were to fall.

We also get to see Trini and Kiya interact directly about their views on the existing perticument. Although they found themselves in conflict, it was great to see these Rangers reach a conclusion that aids survival. There was also a modern Ranger use with the Cosmic Fury Rangers, which was a great tie in to the 30th anniversary event celebration. However, it was great to see Aisha finally burst out and be rewarded with finally freeing Rocky and Adam. The trio always shared a strong bond in the TV series and this moment was a great way to feed into their history.

Active Action Influx With Teasing Set-Up

Mr. Ashford has gradually developed into a major role among Dark Spector’s generals and has continued to use his futuristic knowledge well. This includes a fantastic teaser to their next target as the corrupted Zeo Ranger 2, Yellow provides information regarding the void. This is in reference to the Gridless universe featured in the Beyond The Grid arc that Tanya participated in.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #120 Creates Abyss with Iconic Comic Original Team

The Solar Rangers make their return as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #120 continues to spread the infection. The story finally reunites fans with the iconic characters featured in the Beyond The Grid arc, as the story unleashing an unexpected shock of despair. Melissa Flores has highlighted the reach of the infection as evil pushes into the iconic dimension that featured after Shattered Grid. The issue deals a blow to confidence as a new depth of horror is unleashed.

Returning Characters Highlight Advancement of Time

The Solar Rangers finally make their return to the comics after Ellarien helped the Ranger defeat Kiya. This includes seeing new characters feature alongside the Purple Ranger and her Orange Ranger partner, Remi. Although the comic features a desperate struggle, the audience get to see the new members of the team that fill the void of Legendary Ranger characters. It’s interesting to see this development but also that the Ranger forms remain the same after the initial arc.

It was great to see a brief reintroduction to the Solar Ranger team, while cutting right back to the action. Seeing Dark Spectors troops already disrupting the peace adds greater unease to a complicated dimension. However, it was great to see the relation between Ellarien and Remi stay strong, while also adding Shara as the child of the couple. The family adds a good amount of warmth to the story but also sets up a deeper fall. There was also a nice new relationship blooming between the new Rangers, Red Ranger, Salum, and Yellow Ranger, Maxie.

Dayne Shakes Up Status Quo

The Rangers were able to keep strong by the intervention of Dayne rapidly shifts the balance. Seeing the three Solar Rangers corrupted against their friends was an expected feature but it was great to see a clash between the general and the Purple Ranger. The only downside to the issue is how it is more of a retelling and skips to an escape after a dramatic moment features. However, it also set up Ellarien to seem more ruthless as it ends with her and a captured Ranger Slayer.

Severed Bond Creates Biggest Cut

The comics have always been able to bring a darker side to the story since Shattered Grid. However, this issue pierces deeper by cutting into the relationship between mother and daughter. This was a devastating occurrence to see Remi turn after becoming corrupted, creating a tense of dread and tension. This is a theme that was unexpected in the comics as the younger age requiring maternal protection is twisted into a potential horror as a potent cliffhanger.

This dark turn is sure to keep the audience hooked for the next installment, especially after a promising U-turn for the Mighty Morphin team. The only downside to this moment in the issue is how there is a missing segment to the story. This includes seeing Shara comfort another child with her toy straight after we witness her mother turn on her. This particular occurrence felt a bit rushed and would have been worth fleshing out more, but it did hint at a strength of character for the little character.

For a great slice of development for the battle between good and evil, we give Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #119 a total score of 7 out of 10.

For establishing a fairly potent return for the Solar Rangers in the Darkest Hour, we give Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #120 a total score of 6 out of 10.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers issues #119 and #120 are now available in local comic book stores or as digital copies. The latest and last issues for Darkest Hour, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #121 & #122 are also available to buy or download.

The finale to the event and comic series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour #1, will be released on July 31st, 2024.
