Last week, Hotaro Gotcha’d Nijigon! Now, with only two Chemies left, how will the last Chemy hunt play out? Lets take a bite out of this week’s Kamen Rider Gotchard!
Recap
Episode #39 opens with everyone celebrating the return of Hopper1, Skebows and Antrooper, who all glow with a rainbow energy, a side effect of getting revived by the rainbow blast from Hotaro and Nijigon becoming Rainbow Gotchard for the first time.

Mr. Minato tasks the gang with catching the final two Chemies, Ojilacanth and Pakuraptor. Renge suggests a competition: whomever gets them first gets Nijigon. Meanwhile, Mr. Minato and Spanner go to talk to the Alchemy Association. To catch the last Chemies, the gang devise plans, Sabi will use X-Rex on a drone as bait, Hotaro made a meal to lure them in, and Rinne and Renge will dress up as dinosaurs and pretend to be Pakuraptor’s friend. After some criticism of her roar, though, Rinne backs out of the plan and goes to look on her own.

Rinne comes across Lachesis being attacked by Clotho and confronted by Atropos. After a short fight, Rinne and Lachesis leave. Meanwhile, the gang find the two Chemies but, just as they do, Gigist warps Hotaro and Nijigon to him and tries to corrupt the two new Chemies. However, one quick rainbow breath from Nijigon and the two are able to resist the corruption and allow Hotaro to catch them.
In response to Gigist’s confusion at this, Hotaro gets Nijigon to rainbow breath all of the Chemy Cards. They are all now immune to the effects of malice. Transforming into Rainbow Gotchard, they are warped again, this time to the toku warehouse (you all know the one), where Gigist opens by throwing rubble at Hotaro. He counters by summoning a now ‘rainbowfied’ Gaiard and Dragonalos, before then using a new ability called Gotchabrothers to transmute pairs of Chemies into Kamen Riders, allowing for Appareskebow and Goldmechanichor to fight alongside him. The fight ends about how you would expect it to, with the untimely demise of the Abyssal King, Gigist.

The episode ends with back in the classroom with everyone celebrating the defeat of Gigist and the capture of the last two Chemies; Mr. Minato makes up his mind and asks Spanner to aid him reshaping the Alchemist Association and Lachesis vows to try and become human. Elsewhere, Clotho vows to get her sister back, regardless of what power she needs to use to make it happen. Meanwhile, in the Ouroboros Realm, two new figures emerge from the unsealed gate in the sky, bringing the episode to a close.

The Bad
Honestly, I’m not sure what Renge was on about trying to take ownership of Nijigon from its mother, Hotaro. It’s not like they were going to take Niji away from him, especially so soon after the final form debut. It’s just an odd notion, lacking any kind of thought from the writers.
The Good
What I wanted from this episode was: a) a fun episode showing the last two Chemies getting caught, and b) establishment of new post Malgam threat other than the Abyssal Sisters. You know what, that’s exactly what I got. Also, Gotchabrothers is a cool power that I can’t wait to see used with more of the Chemies.

Conclusion
Another delightful episode in the bag, I can’t wait to see what happens now that we have all the Chemies. I’m going to say this, ahead of next week’s episode with Rinne’s father making a return, I’m going to start a death counter; so far dear ol’ dad is up to two. No, him pulling a ‘Tuxedo Mask’ during the Geats Winter Movie doesn’t count. Regardless, it should be a fun episode!
But, as always, what do you think? Did you like the episode? What form do you hope gets ‘Gotchabrothered’ next? Until next time, I’ve been Ethan: writer, reviewer and the fourth Gotchabrother for The Toku Source and I’ll see you next time!
