SODO Sundays – May 26th, 2024

Get a deeper look at the new YUDO coming ‘Boon’! Rider kick your way into the latest SODO Gotchard as we have a grand time making way for the new SHODO-XX set!

Hey everyone; Scott here with a brand new installment of SODO Sundays. Plenty of reveals ahead of us with this months release of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger YUDO, followed up by the reveal of contents pertaining to both SODO Gotchard #7 and SHODO-XX #9 and a very small (but not to be missed) Ultraman CHODO reveal! It’s a rare moment in candy toy reveal history where we have something for each of the figure lines; be sure not to miss this mammoth edition of SODO Sundays!

Again, I’m not one to wait around when it comes to new figures, so let’s dive on in!

Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger YUDO

They’re finally here!!! We’re 13 episodes in to the current season, Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger, and reception seems positive all around. Now you can recreate your favourite moments thus far with the latest (and greatest?) YUDO set to grace your collection!

This particular boxset will encompass 12 mini boxes to create the full roster of characters, plus accessories! As you can see above, it’ll be two boxes per character with the last two boxes being open hand accessories and other bits to recreate their driving state (more on that later).

Here’s the assembled team (pre stickers) for your enjoyment! If you’re the adventurous type, you may consider painting the coloured features over using the included stickers, but even without, they look great together!

These are the areas (per figure) that will incorporate the use of stickers. With BunBlack and BunOrange having a shoulder pad, they may have one or two more stickers to utilise.

Of course, there’s more paint on these out of the box and I’m pleasantly surprised that the wheels on the helmets are fully painted. I would have expected these parts in particular to make use of stickers, so props to the Bandai Candy team here!

One of the best features of YUDO figs is their excellent range of articulation. Below is a gallery giving you an idea on the extensive range these highly affordable figures have.

As we can see in see in the gallery, plenty of articulation all around with what looks like new arm and hip joint extension. You should have no problem recreating all the solo and group poses you can think up!

But you can make even more poses with the addition of…

Weapons!!! As to be expected, we get the Boonboom Handle with each member, both in it’s ‘gun’ and ‘sword’ states. Like every YUDO weapon, these too will incorporate the use of stickers.

We can’t leave out Boon Black and Boon Orange who will also come with their Boonboom Change Axes in both ‘axe’ and ‘sword’ modes. Again, the use of stickers is here to capture the nice details.

But what about the other accessories…

These little things will allow you to put the Boonboomgers in their driving states. These optional Boonboom Handle/Change Axe pieces acting as the steering wheel.

It looks to be that the leg cuffs will be interchangeable. A panel can be removed from the back to connect the back wheels also! Be sure to place the Boonboom Handle into their hands and…

Voila! You can now race your Boonboomgers and speed into action! These look silly to me personally but it’s a neat little feature.

If, like myself, you got the recent Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger Minipla Set #1, you can have Boonboomger alongside the new vehicles.

Now lets cap things off with a look at the whole team, stickered and all…

The Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger YUDO Set #1 is releasing this month! Be sure to get your orders in to not miss out!

Now let’s switch out our wrist changers for Rider belts as we move on to…

Kamen Rider SODO Gotchard #7

We have arrived at the final stop! That is to say for SODO Gotchard. The Bandai Candy team have revealed that this is the last ‘retail’ SODO Gotchard set, but not the last of Gotchard that we’ll see in this line. This particular set is made up of some powerful forms to add to your growing Gotchard collection, so lets dive straight in…

First up is Platinum Gotchard! Be prepared for a lot of stickering with this one, like any super/final form, a lot of the true details are in the stickers. The horns have also been made with PVC; hopefully this means no bent/misshapen horns out of the box!

Using forbidden techniques in what could be considered a precursor to Platinum Gotchard, we have Iron Gotchard! Now this is a seriously heavy duty figure; despite the bulkiness, he will still be completed via the usual two boxes! Both Liner pieces are have been modified to allow mobility and are removeable to recreate the ‘detached’ state.

Next up is Kamen Rider Dread Type 3! We add another Dread form to the SODO Gotchard line, but it gets better; assuming you got Dread Type 0 from SODO Gotchard #6…

You can interchange the parts to recreate Kamen Rider Dread Type 1 or 2. Should you want to have all Dread Types on display in your collection, you’re gonna have to track down additional boxes!

Like a hurricane, in sense of appearing once, making an impact and disappearing, we get Kamen Rider Wind! Despite only appearing in one episode (thus far) he’s here getting some SODO representation because SODO never misses! It’s a big suit so I personally believe we haven’t seen the last of Wind.

As cumbersome as he looks, the cape pieces can move around which shouldn’t hamper your ability to pose him. Now, lets get to our most ‘gorgeous’ addition…

That’s right! Kamen Rider Legendary Legend makes his way into the line! He comes with packed with his gun and an alternate ’empty’ belt. But the real feat here is in the details. The Bandai Candy team managed to reproduce the card details on such a tiny scale….

Like the previously released SODO Decade Complete Form and Complete Form ’21, each card is a tiny sticker that must be carefully and patiently added to the figure form. Legendary Legend sure has a lot of cards on his armour; to those who seek this figure, I wish you the best of luck!

Of course, we must cap it off with one last look at all the contents included the set! That’s gonna do it for now folks; Kamen Rider SODO Gotchard #7 is scheduled to release in August 2024 so be sure to get those orders in and avoid any worry.

Now let’s power up for more Rider content with…

Kamen Rider SHODO-XX #9

In the last SODO Sundays, we were left with a tease by the Bandai Candy team. It was this blurred image…

Today, we get to reveal that! It was a logical choice for sure, but a pleasant one nonetheless. Are you ready!?

It’s Kamen Rider V3!!! Why is he a ‘logical’ choice? Well he felt inevitable after the recently newly moulded Ichigo and Nigo from the last few SHODO-XX sets. V3 was overdue for a new mould and a rerelease. Granted, I never guessed him from the image myself.

His V3 Hopper exploration device will come via the optional accessory pack. But a holstered version of it comes with the main figure!

We also get a ‘mighty’ addition to this set with Kamen Rider Kuuga’s Amazing Mighty form! The black and gold look is perfect and obviously with this form, it’s only the one Kuuga fig in this set (in a manner of speaking). Does this mean no more Kuuga in SHODO going forward? Guess time will tell on that one!

Possibly my favourite addition to this set: Ohma Zi-O!!! The best, the greatest, the strongest king makes his SHODO debut! You’ll be glad to know the clock hands on the back of the figure are moveable as to not hamper your articulated poses.

Next up is Kamen Rider Jin Burning Falcon to join your growing collection of Zero One SHODO figures!

Of course his ZAIA Slashriser is also his belt, so the main figure comes with the driver variant of the weapon. But the extended weapon variant comes with the optional accessory pack, as well as two sets of Jin’s Burning Scrambler!

Lastly, we get Go-Gadol-Ba as the villain of this set! This is what I meant earlier when talking about Kuuga Amazing Mighty. If you’ve been keeping up with SHODO for a while, you should now have a good handful of monsters from Kamen Rider Kuuga at this point!

His Herculean sword of course comes with the optional accessory pack.

Speaking of it, lets get one last look at that accessory pack! Above is are all the contents within.

Kamen Rider SHODO-XX Set #9 is scheduled to release in October 2024! Be sure to get your orders in ASAP to avoid missing out. Find out more on that below!

Now we’re gonna quickly top off this addition with a small Ultraman update!!!

Ultraman CHODO Alpha #10

What’s this!? We already covered this set last week! Why again? Well, if you remember, the Bandai Candy team initially hid a couple of accessories in the image below…

Now, we get to reveal ‘what’ these accessories are and ‘who’ they belong to! Who they belong to also wasn’t revealed in the last SODO Sundays.

Are you ready? Ladies and Gentleman (and Kaijus), I present…

Ultraman Arc!!! That’s right, the latest Ultraman to debut on screens makes his timely debut in the CHODO candy toy line! The design and details look really great. At a glance, it’s kinda hard to tell it’s a candy toy figure.

A secondary box comes with the parts needed to recreate his ‘Solis’ and ‘Luna’ Armoured states!

The final two revealed accessories are both of his Arc swords to match each armoured states! Get the optional accessory pack to add them to Ultraman Arc’s arsenal!

But that’s going to do it for now! Remember, Ultraman CHODO Alpha Set #10 releases in August 2024! Again, get your orders in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
