‘Geiz’ a minute of your time for more candy toy figures! Let’s dive in for an ‘ultra’ edition of SODO Sunday!
Good day everyone, Scott here with a brand new SODO Sunday! It’s certainly felt like it’s been a hot minute since the last one, right? As much as I love minipla reveals, it’s nice to take a break from it and talk more about my first toku toy love: Candy Toy figures! More specifically, this months upcoming SHODO-XX set along with a recently revealed set of Ultraman CHODO!
Kamen Rider SHODO-XX #8
With SHODO-XX Set 8 releasing this month, we get some exciting additions to join the roster, as well as continuations that began in previous sets. Lets kick it off with what I personally feel is the star of this set…

“Rejoice at the birth of the new king!” That’s right, Kamen Rider Zi-O joins the SHODO toyline. He comes with all his details, Ridewatches on the wrists and all! Included in the figure box is also a hand option holding a Ridewatch! You can obviously leave it up to your imagination which Ridewatch he’s holding but, for all of you hobbyists out there, there’s room for added paint colour should you wish it! Remember folks, this isn’t like SODO, there are no stickers here to fill out the small details!
With the optional accessory pack, you get access to Zi-O’s Zikan Girade in both ‘Ken’ and ‘Zyu’ modes!

Assuming you’ve been collecting SHODO for the longest of time, with the addition of Zi-O comes the completion of all Heisei riders between the ‘SHODO-VS’, ‘SHODO-X’ and ‘SHODO-XX’ lines! It’s a magnificent feat!
Some riders have obviously had more than one release in this time, allowing for improvements, but some are definitely harder to acquire than others now. Looking at you Blade, Hibiki and Agito!!!

Next up is the secondary rider, Geiz! It’s not often you get both the main and secondary Rider in a single SHODO set, so it’s nice to get him sooner rather than later! Of course, he also comes with a hand piece that’s holding a Ridewatch. Personally, I can’t tell if it’s the same kind of holding gesture or different from Zi-O’s; the angle is throwing me off.
With the optional accessory pack, you get access to Geiz’s Zikan Zax in both it’s ‘pullback’ and ‘release’ states, along with it’s ‘Ono’ mode for good measure!

With access to Zi-O in this same set, or utilising any Heisei Riders from your own collection, you can recreate your favourite moments from Kamen Rider Zi-O!

Up next is Kamen Rider Gaim Kachidoki Arms! Gaim’s Super Form makes it’s SHODO debut in spectacular glory! ‘Orange’ you glad you were here to witness it? Personally, I have no interest in Gaim as a season, but there’s something about this form in particular that’s so cool!
With the optional accessory pack, you get access to the Hinawadaidai-DJ-Ju in both it’s ‘standard’ and ‘great sword’ states! The Kachidoki flags are also removeable allowing for more play and display options.

For those who have bought previous SHODO-XX sets, the inevitable addition of Kuuga Titan Form was imminent! But I have to say, next to the previously released figs, he looks fantastic; especially under that lighting!

As per standard with the SHODO releases of Kuuga, you also get the ‘Rising’ form in the same set, so Rising Titan Form is here also!
Of course, both the Titan Sword and Rising Titan Sword are included in the optional accessory pack!

Lastly, we have the villain of the set: Go-Jaraji-Da! Appearing in only two episodes of Kamen Rider Kuuga, he finally gets his due and is now immortalised in candy toy form! He also comes with a tiny needle, his main weapon and tool. This is included with the figure though, so you don’t need the optional accessory pack for him!

One last look and reminder of everything included within the accessory pack. An absolute necessity if you love your rider weapons!
Lastly, the Bandai Candy team left us with this tease for the next SHODO reveal…

What are your thoughts? Think you know who it is? Pop off in the comments! Remember that Kamen Rider SHODO-XX #8 releases this month! So get your orders in ASAP to avoid missing out!
Ultraman CHODO Alpha #10
We also have some Ultraman goodness for the fans of Japan’s humungous heroes! These were revealed a couple of weeks ago, but it would have been a very short (and not sweet enough) edition of SODO Sunday. Apologies for that, but alas, here they are…

The ever popular Ultraseven makes his debut in CHODO Alpha with immense detail! He comes with an alternative head without the ice slugger and hand piece to hold it. His Emerium Ray on the other hand (unintended hand pun) is included only within the optional accessory pack!

Joining Ultraseven in the fight is Sevenger! While I’m still a novice in all things Ultraman, I appreciate a good robo design and Sevenger doesn’t disappoint! Inside his pack comes the Super Rigid Core Drill Fist and Power Pipe! Through the optional accessory pack, you get three different emotional faces: the Sevenger ‘sleep’, ‘angry’ and ‘down’ face options. You won’t want to miss it!

Lastly is the daddy of them all (pun), Father of Ultra! He comes with his ‘father shot’ effect while the Ultimate Blade is included within the optional accessory pack!

Here’s an image of items included within the accessory pack, giving us a good look at the Sevenger optional faces. The Bandai Candy team have purposely hidden two accessories and will reveal all in the next CHODO blog!
That’s all for now! Ultraman Chodo Alpha #10 is set to release in August 2024! Don’t miss out and get your orders in folks!
Ultraman CHODO Alpha Ultra Monster #2
Hold up, because we ain’t done yet! With some new Ultra heroes comes another set in the new Ultra Monster CHODO line! We’ll run through them real quick!

First up is Eleking! He comes with some hand options and an alternative tail piece to wrap his foes (or Ultraseven) without mercy!

Next up, we have King Joe! Another stellar robot design if I do say so. Seems the candy toy team have really upgraded the design and colouring from past iterations of this figure!

An Alien Metron is included in this set, which can be utilised with Ultraseven to recreate the sunset duel scene!

Lastly is Bemstar, who comes with an alternative ‘flying face’ to recreate his flying mode. You can also remove the suction attractor in the abdomen there to reveal a 3mm peg hole for any hobby supports to recreate your favourite flying shots!
No optional accessory packs in this line it seems, which is a good thing in my books! But that will do it for now. Ultraman CHODO Alpha Ultra Monster #2 is set to release August 2024, making this set ideal to order alongside your Ultraman CHODO Alpha #10 set!!!
Now remember, these sets can also secured with The Toku Source via special order. Email us at contact@thetokusource.com or reach out on social media to place your order. Make sure you don’t miss out everybody.
