The DX BoonBoom Changer is the latest main changer release for the Super Sentai series. Let’s take a look at the device in more detail.
It’s BOON TIME! With the premiere of the 2024 Super Sentai team, Bakuage Sentai Boomboonger, comes a new team and you already know what else… that’s right, new toys!
With the theme of this Sentai being cars, it’s safe to assume everything we will be getting over the course of the next year will be in some way car/engine/transport themed. The first of these car related items we will be looking at today is the main transformation device for our first three heroes, the BoonBoom Changer .
Design and Aesthetics
Designed to look like a racing stopwatch, the changer is small and, at first glance, may seem simple in design. However, when you look a little closer, it’s actually really packed with detail.

The main body of the changer features a speedometer design, with an outline of Bun Red’s helmet visor shape worked in, and a metallic blue exhaust up one side of the Changer. There is a light in this, which can be seen at the top, where the port would be. The other side features the BoonBoomger name and, next to this, the activation trigger, which looks like a gas/accelerator pedal.
The second piece to this changer is the wrist brace. This is just a basic black piece of plastic, as is usual for these items, into which the changer is able to easily slide in and out of with minimal effort.
Functionality and Sounds
This changer is designed to work in conjunction with all the other roleplay items from the line, such and the BoonBoomger Robo and the weapons. Before we get into that, though, we need to transform!
To activate the transformation, each respective user pushes the trigger three times before rolling the wheel down the left arm (the changer is then put back in the wrist brace ).
Push once – (Boom! (ブーン!)
Push twice -(BoonBoom! (ブンブーン!)
Push a third time – (BoonBoonBoom! (ブンブンブーン!)
This will trigger the following sounds-
Bakuage Tire! Go! Go! Go! (バクアゲタイヤ!GO!GO!GO!)
You are now ready to fight the monsters.
But wait, there’s more!
Once you have transformed, there are still several things you can do with this changer. This will depend heavily on whether or not you have picked up any of the other toys in the line.
Summmoning
By flipping the changer over to the back side you can lock in one of the BoonBoom vehicles in order to summon the vehicle mecha.
For example: Boonboom Kukuri Tire! (ブンブン作っくりタイヤ!)

Each car will have its own summoning noise so, again, the more you collect, the more sounds you will activate.
Weapons
When attached to the Boon Handle (the blaster/sword/steering wheel), you are able to do a “final attack“ by pressing the trigger three times. You will then hear BoonBoom Finish! (ブンブンフィニッシュ!).
When the Boon Handle is in steering wheel mode, another sound can be unlocked after summoning the mecha: Bakuaget On! (バクアゲットオン!).
Finally, the changer can be locked into the rear of the mecha and can be used to activate a final attack .
Summary
There you have it, folks, our latest Super Sentai henshin device. Whilst it’s small and seems like it doesn’t do a lot, initially, it’s packed with sounds and there is a lot of playability with the other toys in the line. I really like that we finally got a new wrist worn device; I for one was sick of weapon changers. Is this worth the pick up? I personally think it is. There’s loads of functionality and I’m sure, as more roleplay items are released, more sounds will be unlocked.

The DX BoonBoom Changer has been delayed but will be available soon from The Toku Source. Keep your eyes peeled on social media, @thetokusource, or on our website for more details coming soon. For other items from Bakuake Sentai Boonboomger, click here.
