Full Details from the BoonBoomger Press Conference

During the eagerly awaited annual press conference for the upcoming Super Sentai series, Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger, fans were delighted to receive not only details about the cast but also more comprehensive information about the 48th Super Sentai team.

Amongst the details revealed in the BoonBoomger press conference was the story, the main cast of characters and their foils, the Hishiriyan. The live event was broadcast on YouTube on February 18th, 2024.

The Story

Boondorio Boonderas, an unusual extraterrestrial with a car like appearance, made a crash landing on Earth and now takes shelter in BunRed’s garage. This unexpected visitor significantly influences the lives of the Boonboomgers, leading them into a confrontation with the Hishiriyan Space Mafia.

Characters

Bun Red/Taiya Hando

BunRed, also known as Taiya Hando (a pun on the words Tyre and Handle), embodies a fervent spirit with a passionate heart, though he often restrains it. Renowned for his reliability and trustworthiness, he is a skilled car remodeler and modifier who derives great joy from driving. Hando excels in the art of development and modification, showcasing his craftsmanship as a “delivery man” for the cars he meticulously creates. When expressing fondness for someone or something, he enthusiastically exclaims, “I love it! or “I bought it!”.

Possessing a keen perception of reality, Taiya embraces a competitive instinct, enabling him to make swift decisions and judgments. Unafraid of risks, he often asserts, “Isn’t it better to take the risk?” Proficient in both melee combat using rods and firearms, he adapts his fighting style creatively to suit the situation. Portrayed by Haruhi Iuchi. Bun Red’s suit performance is brought to life by Hirotsugu Mori, who previously served as the suit actor for TomboOhger. This will be his first time playing a red Sentai hero at any official capacity.

BunBlue/Ishiro Meita

Ichiro Meita (a pun on the word meter) is Bun Blue, the knowledgeable car salesman among the trio of main characters. His wealth of information often makes him Taiya’s go-to person for advice. Maintaining a highly professional demeanour, BunBlue excels in quickly identifying and exploiting the weaknesses of adversaries in battle.

In his role as an “informant,” Ichiro is a seasoned information gatherer, functioning as a freelance spy. Known for his meticulous and cynical nature, he carefully assesses risks and makes composed decisions. He wholeheartedly supports Taiya’s choices and views his partnership with him as a contractual obligation, fighting alongside his as if it were a professional assignment.

Blessed with exceptional dynamic vision and precision in his movements, Ichiro proves to be a formidable force in battle. When wielding a gun, he becomes a one-hit wonder, showcasing his proficiency in marksmanship. The character is brought to life by actor Yuki Hayama, with the suit actor portrayed by Takahiro Yoneoka, recognised for his role as Don Murasame in Donbrothers. Notably, this marks Yoneoka’s debut in a main hero role.

BunPink/Mira Shifuto

BunPink, also known as Mira Shifuto, derives her name from a clever play on the words mirror and shift. Renowned for her exceptional brightness and innocence, Mira possesses an insatiable curiosity that often leads her to explore intriguing places. However, beneath her seemingly carefree exterior lies a formidable talent for driving, a skill not to be underestimated.

Functioning as a skilled “driver,” Mira adeptly manoeuvres through various situations, frequently taking on part time roles at different stores. Her mastery of pedal work has garnered admiration from both Taiya and Ishiro, who are thoroughly impressed by her driving prowess. Mira serves as both a mood maker and a troublemaker, injecting a dynamic energy into her surroundings.

Upon encountering Taiya, Mira begins to reveal her true core strength. Fueled by her unique sensibility, she engages in intuitive fights, showcasing a fighting style that is distinctly her own. The actress Miu Suzuki brings Mira to life on screen, with Yumi Sakanashi, previously known for her role as KamakiriOhger on KingOhger, serving as the suit actress for BunPink. Notably, this marks Yume’s first role as a pink hero. Her performance is promising a contrast to how Hymeno would fight.

BunBlack/Jou Akuse

Meet BunBlack, known as Joh Akuse, a clever play on the word “Accelerate” and the word “pedal” in Japanese. Unlike the main trio, BunBlack operates with a distinct changer and serves as a city cop. His character adds a touch of comedy to the show, as he often finds himself in amusing and unexpected situations.

In contrast to BunBlack, we have Jou, a dedicated rookie cop with a fervent commitment to justice. His patrol vehicle of choice is a bicycle and he proudly dons the uniform of a traditional police officer. Jou is characterized by his serious and aggressive demeanour, embodying a strong sense of duty. With a focus on maintaining law and order, he navigates the town’s streets with determination.

Jou’s personality leans towards rigidity rather than flexibility and he exudes confidence in his physical prowess. As a “policeman” on two wheels, Jou brings a disciplined and assertive presence to the show, offering a counterbalance to the more whimsical antics of BunBlack. Joh is played by the actor Ryu Saito with BunBlack’s suit actor being played by Shigeki Ito who potrayed KuwagataOhger on KingOhger. This will be Ito’s first time playing a main hero role that isn’t red.

BunOrange/Gemba Bureki

BunOrange, also known as Genba Bureki (a clever play on the word “brake”), remains shrouded in mystery, with scant details divulged about his character. Even the actor portraying him, Satoru Soma, is not privy to many details. Straying from the central trio, he wields the same changer as Black, adding an air of enigma to his role.

Genba assumes the role of a “procurer,” showcasing mastery in the art of acquisition. His reputation as a dependable individual, capable of sourcing whatever he needs from any location, precedes him. Despite his adeptness in procurement, Genba maintains a gentle and soft demeanour, masking his true sentiments behind a veil of elusiveness. In contrast to Joh, he exudes flexibility rather than rigidity, skilfully capitalising on his opponent’s movements during combat.

Satoru Soma undertakes the portrayal of Genba, with Yukimasa Ono serving as his suit actor. This marks a significant milestone for Ono, as he steps into his first major role, donning the mantle of a hero in this intriguing and mysterious character. As the narrative unfolds, audiences can anticipate uncovering more layers to the elusive persona of Genba Bureki.

Boondorio Boonderas/BoonBoomTrailer/BoonBoomger Robo

Boondorio Boonderas, the mecha and companion of the team, resides alongside the main three members within their base. The team, aptly named BoonBoomger, is a combination of “BoonBoom” and “Friends/Warriors.” Together with the assistance of Taiya, they crafted their equipment. When enlarged, they transform into BoonBoomTrailer and Robo. Boondorio Boonderas is brought to life through the renowned voice talent of Rica Matsumoto, famous for her role as Satoshi (Ash) in Pokémon from 1997 to 2022. The suit actor for BoonBoom is Yohei Fujita, who has consistently portrayed the main mecha character since Ryusoulger.

The Villans – Space Mafia Hishiriyan

Decotrade

A Hishiriyan general who aspires to climb the ranks within the organization. However, he finds himself assigned to the role of one of the three site supervisors known for consistently creating problems. He is voiced by Junichi Suwabe and his suit actor is Toshihiro Ohura who played Ryutaros in Kamen Rider Den-O.

Itasha

A Hashiriyan commander with aspirations for advancement, she holds the position of the second site supervisor. Voiced by Nana Mizuki, her suit actress is Yuki Miyazawa.

Yaiyai Yarker

Yaiyai Yarker, voiced by Sumire Morohoshi, embodies a Hashiriyan commander with a car like demeanour, driven by the ambition to ascend within their ranks.
