Power Morphicon 2024 will feature various tokusatsu stars, including the first US appearance of Gokai Pink, Dragon Ranger and Kamen Rider Decade. Yui Koike, Shiro Izumi and Masahiro Inoue were revealed to be attending the convention courtesy of Toku Spirits.
The latest to the Power Morphicon lineup were revealed on social media, as the iconic stars of Gokaiger, Zyuranger, and Kamen Rider Decade will be in attendance at the Pasadena Convention Centre. They will also be joined by Gokai Red, Ryota Ozawa, who will be returning to the Power Rangers based event once more. A special VIP event was also revealed to be hosted by Toku Spirits that will be limited to seven guests, with a selection of perks included.
Power Morphicon (PMC) has been a key event that allows Power Rangers fans to meet the iconic stars and content creators within the Power Ranger franchise and other tokusatsu adaptations. The popularity of the original toku content from Japan led to the inclusion of Japanese stars at the convention, thanks to Toku Spirits. Power Morphicon 2022 featured the first US appearance of Ryota Ozawa, who is renowned for his role as Captain Marvelous in the 35th Super Sentai series, Kaizou Sentai Gokaiger. Other guests previously featured at PMC include Zyuranger’s Reiko Chiba, Seiju Umon, Yuuta Mochizuki, Takumi Hashimoto, and even Jetman’s Toshihide Wakamatsu.
Massive Tokusatsu Announcements
Power Morphicon will feature four iconic tokusatsu stars in this year’s event courtesy of Toku Spirits, featuring the first appearance of Yui Koike, Shiro Izumi, and Masahiro Inoue. The stars are renowned for portraying Gokaiger’s Ahim de Famille, Zyuranger’s Burai, and Decade’s Tsukasa Kadoya, respectively. This is a grand opportunity for fans in the West to meet the iconic cast members of the popular Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series. They will also be joined by Gokai Red, Ryota Ozawa, as the iconic actor will also be coming back for his second consecutive PMC.
Toku Spirits have also teased two more special guests as they revealed a VIP Dinner that grants attendees a range of fantastic perks. This includes a ‘Meet and Greet’ with each participating guest, two autographs from each member and even includes selfie and group photos. A special 1:1 replica helmet will also be distributed at the VIP dinner with a game, which guarantees each attendee to obtain signed. The two special guests will be revealed soon, with more announcements coming as the year proceeds.
The discovery of Ryota Ozawa coming to Power Morphicon 2022 was an overwhelming occasion that devastated fans who couldn’t attend. With fellow Gokaiger cast member, Yui Koike, now in attendance for 2024, this is another opportunity that fans in the UK and US won’t want to miss. It’s also brilliant to see another member of Zyuranger attending the Power Rangers convention but everyone is extremely excited to see Masahiro Inoue due, amongst other reasons, to tokusatsu crossovers featuring Captain Marvelous meeting Decade.
As the hype continues to climb regarding Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, it is understandable why Toei see an opportunity to release their IPs worldwide. Both Kaizou Sentai Gokaiger and Kamen Rider Decade were huge anniversary releases, so this event will finally allow them to meet fans who find ways to enjoy their work. Fans will also want to take this opportunity to share their love for other contributions to tokusatsu content such as Inoue starring in Sentika F8ABA6 Jisariz. If anyone is able, we highly recommend making the trip to LA this year to share love from the UK.
Power Morphicon 2024 will be held in the Pasadena Convention Centre on August 23 to 25, 2024. The VIP dinner hosted by Toku Spirits will be a premium purchase, limited to 7 participants, and will be an after the hours of the Power Morphicon event, featuring Yui Koike, Shiro Izumi, Masahiro Inoue, and Ryota Ozawa as star guests.
