Gorgeous greetings one and all! Join Ethan for the conclusion of the Weekly Ride Reviews first special, featuring Legends, flashbacks, brilliance and ownership.
Summary
We open with Kaguya and Butler giving Hotaro a new outfit and explaining that a gorgeous heart starts with their appearance. He notes that Hotaro is lacking gorgeousness, unlike Saber and Geats. They talk a little more before Kaguya tells Hotaro it’s time for his massage but they are interrupted by a notification that Hundred are attacking and, this time, their boss is with them. Hotaro and Kaguya argue a little about whether or not to go, before Hotaro questions how he can call himself a hero of justice, returns the new outfit and runs off, dragging Butler along with him.
Arriving at the battle, Hotaro asks Butler how he deals with Kaguya, which leads Butler into setting up a flashback of Kaguya’s past. We see a young Kaguya during Hundred’s attack on his world, holding his grandpa’s hand, who has been crushed under rubble, as he promises him to use his brilliance to make the world better. Just as three Hundred mooks are about to attack, Kamen Rider Decade appears saving them, striking awe in the young Kaguya.

A cutscene shows Kaguya putting on his cape as Butler continues to explain that the brighter Kaguya shines, the more Hundred attack only him. Since he started, collateral damage is at an all time low. Butler then hands Hotaro a ring and there’s a noise when he puts it on. The boss of Hundred shows up and tells Hotaro to leave unless he wants to be destroyed because he has no issues with him. This is when Kaguya shows up, making a dramatic entrance.

The boss of Hundred then asks Kaguya to join them which he quickly rejects, refusing the to leave his world. Kaguya then hands Hotaro back his driver, the two transform as the boss of Hundred transforms into Kamen Rider Barlckxs. Legend and Gotchard quickly set to work dispatching the mooks and Kaguya throws Hotaro four Legend Rider cards for OOOs, W, Build and Fourze. Hotaro transforms into CycloneTatoba form.

We cut briefly to Kaguya fighting the boss of Hundred before he uses the Decade Chemy Card to turn into Kamen Rider Legend: Gorgeous Decade. We then cut back to Hotaro, who transforms into FullFullRocket.

Rocket boosting into the fight, Hotaro attacks the boss of Hundred, freeing up Kaguya to use the Diend Chemy Card to finish up the last of the mooks. Legend and Gotchard both Rider Kick the boss of Hundred into oblivion.

After undoing their transformations, Hotaro starts to glitch. It turns out that the Aurora Curtain System has overheated, meaning Hotaro will shortly be booted back to his own world. Kaguya asks for Hotaro’s name, since he never learned it nor asked for it, to which Hotaro introduces himself. As the two go for a handshake, Hotaro is send back to the restaurant with Kajiki. We then cut back to Kaguya in his office instructing Butler to fix the Aurora Curtain System as he looks out of the window saying that everything belongs to him, telling the absent Hotaro to wait for it. The camera pans out, showing off his tower one final time, bringing the special to a close.

My Take
It’s Gorgeous time once again! Now that this special has wrapped up, firstly, let me just say I don’t get what the “VS” is doing in the title. They argue a little, sure, but that’s about it. It should really be called “Kamen Rider Gotchard Meets Kamen Rider Legend.” That would be a much more fitting title.

Generally speaking though, I really enjoyed this; getting to see Kaguya’s backstory and that, after being saved by Decade, he clearly based his ‘Ridersona’ on him, his ideal hero. Not to mention the insight into him that he acts this way to draw attention so bad guy focus on to him and only him. All really neat and really makes me appreciate the character more. All in all a good time.
But what did you think ? Did you enjoy the special ? Do you want to see Legend meet Twokaizer ? excited for legend to return ? let me know in the comments below, as always I’ve been Ethan writer, reviewer and living legend in the making for the toku source.
