D-Sword Vega, the iconic weapon belonging to Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger’s DekaMaster teased by Bandai as they surprise fans with the first appearance of the Memorial Edition sword.
The upcoming Premium Bandai release was revealed alongside other Memorial Editions for the 28th Super Sentai series. The first reveal for the new addition to the line featuring a show accurate scale and amazing detailing debuts as the first weapon to be given the Memorial Edition treatment from Dekaranger.
Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger features Doggie Kruger as the mentor and commander of the team since the first episode. The canine humanoid alien was a supporting character until he became the extra hero in the series, known as DekaMaster. The Power Rangers adaptation, Power Rangers S.P.D., featured a redesign of the character but kept the same role, with the Ranger known as the Shadow Ranger. The D-Sword Vega is the personal weapon of the warrior, which can change the blade into an unsharpened sheathed mode that alters the appearance.

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger D-Sword Vega Memorial Edition will feature as part of the 20th anniversary lineup from Premium Bandai. The upcoming memorial edition release was displayed alongside the SP License and the movie exclusive SP1 License from the same line. The upcoming collectable has yet to reveal all features for the release as the item is still in development. The main feature currently revealed is the visually significant difference in scale compared to the original deluxe toy from 2004.
Fans of Dekaranger or even S.P.D. will be highly anticipating the release date as the new Memorial Edition features a show accurate scale. It’s amazing how all the details have been captured in the item, including the canine based guard and the details along the handle. The logo for S.P.D. and the badge have also been moulded into the design, as seen in the series. All features have yet to be revealed but it’s expected that Kruger’s voice actor, Tetsu Inada, will include record lines for the Memorial Edition as seen in other Memorial Edition releases.
Sounds and LEDs are expected to feature in the first weapon in Dekaranger’s Memorial Edition line but there are some challenges involved. As the sword has a sheathed form for the blade, it will be interesting to see how this mode will be captured in the Memorial Edition. This is due to the opening of the canine guard changing the sword from its dark unsharpened dormant form to a sharp silver blade. It will be exciting to find out what the total package will include, along with any extra additions that could be featured. This will be an amazing display and cosplay item for fans of the character, especially for fans of both the Sentai and Ranger series.
The Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger D-Sword Vega Memorial Edition release date has yet to be announced. The upcoming Premium Bandai item is expected to reveal all features soon, with more announcements after development is completed.
