With the reboot coming up, there are many stories that Power Rangers should have explored to create a richer timeline. Although there have been major connections featured, there are some stories that were either left out or never considered.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury was a bittersweet moment for the fandom as it concludes the 30 year run of the TV series continuity. With many characters featured, it’s understandable that some events have been left in the past. In light of this circumstance, we have compiled major subjects for potential stories that have yet to be covered by the live action series or even the comics.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury provided a wild 30th season that finally cemented the timeline into SPD. The 30th Anniversary for Power Rangers has hosted many significant releases, such as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always. Although the live action content has been limited to these two releases, Boom! Studios has started the Darkest Hour comic event as part of the celebration. In addition to this year long story arc, Ranger Academy has also started a brand new story within the Power Rangers universe. Hasbro will be focusing on a reboot once these anniversary events have concluded, with a whole new universe expected to debut.
Nine Potential Stories That Should Have Been

There are many stories over the years that have warranted exploring but certain characters and continuations stand out highly above the rest. Some of these issues and concerns have been promptly addressed by different mediums, such as Power Rangers Hyperforce and various comic books from Boom! Studios. Despite these releases and the one shot graphic novels, there are still some stories that have been made obsolete by simply ignoring their condition. Here are the top 9 stories that Power Rangers should have explored before the 30th Season concluded the original universe.
9) Does Lightspeed Return?

Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue saw six Rangers team up with an emergency response service during the fight against demons. Although the Lightspeed Aquabase was destroyed, it would be hard to imagine that Captain Mitchell and his rescue operation would cease. The team have been seen still wearing their jackets after these events, but it would make more sense if such an emergency rescue service was reactivated as attacks on the planet got worse. Time Force and other factions have been a form of forces against evil but it would be amazing to see one returned for saving lives.
8) Silver Guardian Activities

Both Wes and Eric have been active members of Time Force in the present but they are also leaders of the Silver Guardians. The Silver Guardians were formed by Wes’ father to deal with the onslaught of attacks from Ransik and his army. However, the security faction may still be active as they try and keep peace in Silver Hills and beyond. It would also be interesting if their directive was changed, such as detecting threats for Rangers to discover before it escalates into a new war.
7) Troy’s Connection – Super Megaforce

The Super Megaforce team had a tremendous amount of power under their control, with hints that they were meant to inherit the 20 year old legacy. Although this was never highlighted again, there was a special connection featured for Troy that suggests a strong connection to the Morphin Grid. From dreaming of the future to awakening Robo Knight with Red Morphin Energy, it’s clear that Troy Burrows has an unnaturally powerful link. There are so many signs that suggest a bigger picture for the character, with the actor, Andrew M. Gray, foreseeing the character becoming the keeper of the Ranger Keys.
6) Mirinoi: Present Day

Mirinoi was one the biggest featured planets in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy but it has also become one of the biggest underused locations. From Lost Galaxy Rangers travelling from the planet to Bulk returning from Earth, the present day situation of the planet was never revealed. Buildings were erected on the planet as seen in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue but, like KO-35, fans expect it to also have an advance space port. This would explain why Bulk was able to casually return home and why such a distance planet may not be too isolated that it can’t be protected. The Lost Galaxy Rangers likely keep the planet safe but how well has yet to be revealed, especially with threats from the Troobian Empire.
5) Setting up SPD’s Earth Branch

SPA featured in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always but the exact date the SPD Delta Base arrived was never established. Newtech City was recently revealed to be a refugee point for extraterrestrials that lost their homes during Lord Zedd’s return in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. However, when SPD founded its Earth branch, and when Doggie and Kat arrived, has yet to be revealed. It would also suggest that the six kids that become SPD Rangers weren’t originally from Earth, based on the established origin stories involving their parents.
4) Mystic Mother – Rita’s Journey & Present State

The Mystic Mother debut in Power Rangers Mystic Force, where she revealed herself to be formerly known as Rita Repulsa. Although we have seen Rita turn good after the Zordon’s Wave, we never saw how she became such a big part of the magical dimension. Plus, the only time we have seen Mystic Mother after this season was briefly in Power Rangers Hyperforce, before the timeline was broken. It is also possible that the Mystic Mother could secretly be a form of Morphin Master that protects the Morphin Grid against the effects of magic. As we know Morphin Masters can be created, Rita could have become Master Silver without anyone knowing or discovering.
3) World’s Greatest Ninja – Dane Romero’s Origins

Power Rangers Ninja Steel has been one of the biggest under hyped plots of Power Rangers, which is mainly due to a lack of backstory and build. Titled the World’s Greatest Ninja, Dane Romero was one of the biggest issues as the fandom was unable to compare the character to well known orders such as the Ninja Academies. Finding out his history is a must to truly cement his title, plus a huge threat such as Yokai from another dimension to illustrate his journey. It wouldn’t be the first time that a momentous army fought outside of the spotlight, since the Nighlok were monsters of the Netherworld that had battles dating decades in the past.
2) SPD Fire Squad – SPD Red, Deka Ranger & Ranger Prime

One of Jason Bischoff’s concepts, the return of Jack Landors and the continuation of events, after the Tommy Oliver graphic novel, was a big concept that never took off. Saban’s Power Rangers: Soul Of The Dragon featured JJ taking over the legacy while also joining SPD as the Green Ranger, following the promotion of Bridge to Red Ranger. It was also revealed that Sky would be the colour switching Deka Ranger, with Jack making his return as Ranger Prime. This team called the SPD Fire Squad has yet to be brought to life, but it would honour the cast perfectly if Bischoff could finally write it.
1) JJ – Tommy and Kat’s Son

JJ has been a constantly referenced character but finally made his debut in Saban’s Power Rangers: Soul Of The Dragon. The son of Tommy and Kat also featured in Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always but has never been cast for the live action series. The opportunity was also passed in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, since Hasbro wanted the release to be standalone. This is also why Minh never returns, aside from her Ranger form, but it would have been a huge moment to give JJ a casting. As a reboot is the next upcoming production, it’s understandable that such a big role that inherits JDF’s character legacy has yet to happen.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury is available to watch on Netflix, including all ten episodes. Various Seasons such as Power Rangers SPD are available to watch on YouTube via the Power Rangers Official channel.
