A new trademark ‘Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger’ has been filed by Toei, therefore confirming the title of the next Super Sentai series.
Toei Company Ltd. has filed a new trademark for the 48th Super Sentai series under the name Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger. The trademark has recently been approved by the Japanese Intellectual Property Database. This series will succeed the 47th instalment; Ohsama Sentai Kingohger. This new series is filed under the trademark 2023-97772 ~ 2023- 97793.
Alongside the ongoing rumours of dragons, the word ‘bakuage’ means explosive increase, to rise dramatically or to shoot up. Moreover, the word ‘baku’ (爆) can have different meanings. The first meaning to explode or burst. Second, according to Japanese folklore, is a legendary being with the ability to consume bad dreams. According to the tale, individuals who awaken from a nightmare can invoke the baku’s presence by uttering it’s name three times and requesting it to consume their unsettling dream. This word could also point to this Sentai being themed after mythical creatures.
The Onomatopoeia ‘Boon-Boom’ could also point to this Sentai being themed after explosions, having a sub theme of explosions or contain many explosions similar to Dynaman.
