Ultraman Blazar Episode 5 Recap: “The Mountain Roars”

Hey all, Sean here again, and it’s time for another Ultraman Blazar recap! This week, we get to see an ancient kaiju be awakened by SKaRD’s newest weapons.

Let’s get right into it with this week’s mountainous monster!

Monster Of The Day

Today’s monster is Dorgo, the “Mountain Monster,” an ancient kaiju that lay dormant in Mt. Kirino for a thousand years and is the guardian deity of the nearby village. Dorgo’s abilities include land and water purification, spiritual telepathy, a lightning ray and the Mega Shot rail guns on it’s back that were put there by the GGF.

SKaRD

SKaRD were setting up to test a new weapon near Anri’s old village, the “Mega Shot” anti kaiju rail guns. However, Mizuho, an old friend of Anri’s, was warning them to stop the testing, as they will awaken Dorgo.

Mizuho brought out an emakimono, one that depicted Dorgo, and explained the legend of the beast.

The two then remember an old shrine on Mt. Kirino, with Mizuho mentioning it was there to calm Dorgo.

However, the GGF tore down the shrine to set up the “Mega Shot”, and according to Mizuho, it is awakening Dorgo.

The tests eventually occur and seem like a success for the GGF and SKaRD, however, the guns were mounted right on Dorgo’s back, who then awakens.

SKaRD initially think Dorgo is going to attack Earth Garon. However, Dorgo walks right past, takes a drink from some lake water and goes back to sleep.

I personally found this part of the episode funny. As the episode goes on, the SKaRD team, with the help of Mizuho, try to get the shrine statue that Mizuho had recovered back to Dorgo to return him to sleep so, let’s skip ahead to the fight, shall we?

The fight this episode was pretty good. It was well choreographed and it was quite awesome seeing Blazar break the Spiral Burrade in half, to make what I have nicknamed the “Duo Burrade.”

Conclusion

As always, I enjoyed todays episode, it was fun and action packed! Blazar is really making strides with what it’s doing, as it truly feels like the Ultra Series is truly back on it’s feet.
