In this week’s Ultraman Blazar, we get to see SKaRD member Emi’s specialty for info gathering.
Hey all, Sean here again, and could you believe it? A quick turnaround for this week’s recap! In this episode, we get to see what SKaRD member Emi does best, so, lets go!
Monster Of The Day

The monster in this episode is the “Molluscan Kaiju” Leviera who, honestly, is the best looking so far, resembling a mutated axolotl by the look of things.

When dowsed in the antimicrobial chemical FK1, developed by the company, Novaio, Leviera is reduced to slime.

However, this doesn’t kill Leviera, it only drives it away, and Leviera always returns.

Leviera had appeared 3 months prior to the events of the series, it’s intentions and origins unknown, but it is confirmed to have regenerative abilities.

Also, here’s Leviera’s face opened, kind of odd, looks like a grotesque flower, doesn’t it?
SKaRD Team

Gento, Teruaki and Anri are looking over old footage of Leviera’s first appearance, Gento mentions that FK1 has been used in every encounter since it was discovered to harm Leviera. Anri adds that “it’s only repelled, not eliminated” and that they need a new way to take it down.

Teruaki tells Gento that they’ve been using more and more FK1 in each encounter with Leviera. Originally, the monster was driven off with just one ton, now they need to use double that amount. Gento theorises that Leviera is developing a resistance to FK1. Meanwhile, Yasonobu has almost completed a new weapon, while Teruaki wonders how Emi’s current mission is going.

We then see Gento meet with Emi, who tells him that she has gained Novaio CEO Hiroshi Sonezaki’s trust and has started digging from there. Gento tells Emi that Teruaki is worried about her, thinking it’s his fault she’s taking such excessive risks. Emi, however, thinks this is a “premium lead”, having discovered that Leviera resembles man made sea angels that were developed by a subsidiary of Novaio.

Emi has come to believe that Novaio is somehow connected to Leviera.

It’s then revealed that Sonezaki used to work for the GGF in the chemical department, but resigned 18 years ago, erasing all record of himself.
Hiroshi Sonezaki

The CEO of Novaio, and a former member of the GGF, discovered an alien life form with strong regenerative abilities, as seen in a file when Emi was looking for information.

Hiroshi views Leviera as “his child”, having used cell samples he cultivated from GGF to synthesise a man made sea angel with raised attack power, even modifying it’s DNA so that it would hate the FK1 antimicrobial, even though it’s developing a resistance.

Hiroshi isn’t concerned at all, planning to “leave the country with his new children”, who are all new man made kaiju, so that people will never stop seeking FK1.

Sonezaki proceeds to gloat, using the lyrics of a narcissistic song about himself he listens to while meditating.

Gento then arrives. He and the SKaRD team were using the SKaRD van for surveillance.

A fight then ensues with Emi dodging bullets shot by Hiroshi. Gento defeats him, knocking him out.

After Gento orders Emi to get Sonezaki out of the building, he transforms into Ultraman Blazar to fight Leviera.

Blazar is assisted in the fight by SKaRD and Earth Garon, but both struggle.

Emi, after seeing a liquid nitrogen warehouse, gets the idea to use it on Leviera, Leviera freezes, Blazar shattering the kaiju with the Spiral Burrade.

Conclusion
Overall, I really enjoyed todays episode and, by the look of the next episode’s preview, we’re getting some SKaRD member focus episodes, with next week being Anri!
