Chapter Five of the Power Rangers Hyperforce Recap continues as we delve into the first part of the finale episode.
HyperRPG’s TTRPG series collaborated with Saban Entertainment to create a canon and original story of time-travelling Power Rangers as they face the Alliance of Evil. Each episode of the series was three hours long and featured many interactions with in-depth stories. With the upcoming release of Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce #1, we are going to dive into the last episodes starting with episode 24.
Power Rangers Hyperforce is an original series created by HyperRPG as a tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) live stream experience. The live stream aired as a web series on HyperRPG’s Twitch channel, featuring as a sequel to Power Rangers Time Force. HyperRPG originally planned a second season but the transfer from Saban to Hasbro caused the series to end on a cliffhanger. Melissa Flores took over as writer for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics and was able to bring the team back. Cowritten with Meghan Camarena, Boom! Direct recently interviewed the writers regarding their upcoming release and the Darkest Hour event, which will include the team in the story for the 30th Anniversary.
Warning: The following overview of events doesn’t include significant moments of the Rangers individually. This includes detailed occurrences, in game outtakes, and character moments that would be lost to interoperation without watching, so ensure to check out Episode 24 of Power Rangers Hyperforce for yourself.
The Finale Begins
Power Rangers Hyperforce ended its run on HyperRPG with a two-part finale, finishing the story for the TTRPG. The last episode of the season includes episodes 24 to 25, which includes major moments such as Thrax’s reveal, the appearance of Chloe’s Father, and the fate of the timeline in a cliffhanger. The first part also features three veteran Rangers at once, including past guests Karen Ashley and Mike Ginn, plus Christopher Khaymen Lee returning as Red Space Ranger, Andros.
The Leader is Revealed
Andros starts the episode as the disguised Ranger takes account of all the villains present at the United Alliance of Evil meeting in 1998. As they all make their way to the dinner table, he is grabbed by Joe and teleported to the Hyper Time Ship. Confused by what has happened, the Hyperforce Rangers try to explain to Andros about ‘The Leader’, while trying to avoid altering history with what they say. The team then introduce their allies that have come to help from across time and space, which includes the Wizard Merlin, the SPD Green Ranger, known as Lina Song, Yellow Ranger, Aisha and RPM Gold Ranger, Gem.
After the group are caught up with events including Vesper stuck inside Alpha, the Rangers review a plan using a hologram with explosives to trick ‘The Leader’. Andros decides to continue as if he was still on his original mission to rescue Zordon, while the Hyperforce Rangers work on their plan to stop ‘The Leader’. As the Rangers teleport to the dinner meeting and prepare to make their move, timeships suddenly appear that belong to the Alliance of Evil. The Rangers witness ‘The Leader’ reveal himself to Rita and Lord Zedd as he unveils his true identity as Thrax, their son. Dark Specter then appears and reveals his plan to drain Zordon now that they have captured him.
Andros tries to distract Thrax using his cloak but is grabbed instead as the villain proclaims his superiority. The Hyperforce Rangers set off perimeter explosives as a diversion and Chloe transforms into the Pink Battle Warrior. Joe strikes at Thrax to free Andros and the Rangers enact their plan using the Marv Hologram. The Rangers begin their fight against the villains, including ‘Vespa’ fighting with Alpha’s chest cannon. Eddie and Jack try to convince Dark Spector to destroy Thrax but then Thrax absorbs his dark energy, destroying the evil overlord.
One of the Alliance timeships swoops in and grabs Zordon, leading the Rangers to grab hold as the tube is pulled in. Unfortunately, only Chloe manages to hold on and the other Rangers continue their fight against Thrax. Using their combined powers with their allies, the Hyperforce Rangers manage to overwhelm Thrax as he tries to absorb their attack. As Thrax falls, he explodes and unleashes a wave of dark energy that strengthens Zedd and Rita, leading to them both teleporting away.
The evil Alliance notice Chloe and shoot her off Zordon’s tube and as she falls, Hyperforce Pink calls upon her Pheonix Hyper Zord. She then attempts to break Zordon free but accidently knocks him into the stolen time ship. The Rangers’ allies all decide to stay behind to fight the other villains left, while the Hyperforce Rangers chase after Zordon. Joe tries to place a tracker on the Time Ship with Zordon in, and fails, but an inner voice speaks to Chloe telling her which one. Recognising it as the voice that told her to destroy the Corona Aurora, as the Rangers continue to chase the Time Ship with Zordon inside.
Only one episode remains as the Power Rangers Hyperforce Recap of the TTRPG series finishes with episode 25. The first season of the series will be followed by the comic that bridges on to the new story by Boom! Studios, which will follow directly onto the distorted timeline seen in the last episode.
Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce #1 will continue the story on July 19, 2023. The latest Boom! Studios comic written by Melissa Flores and Meghan Camarena (Hyperforce Pink) will continue from the events of the TTRPG series that ended with 25 episodes. Three covers are currently available for the upcoming release, with a special foil cover only available on Boom! Direct Reserve.
