Inside Tokyo Toy Show 2023 – Ultraman, Rider, Sentai and More!

Much like London or New York Toy Fair, Japan’s offering from their own capital provides toy makers an opportunity to show off the best of their current toyline, as well as a glimpse of what’s to come!

Kamen Rider

Starting off with Kamen Rider, we have, not one but two, Legend Rider Series Kamen Rider Belts! Now, as we all know, this line started during Kamen Rider Revice but recent releases were to tie into the recent movie, Shin Kamen Rider. Now, we are back to the main continuity with the Altering from Kamen Rider Agito and the Blaybuckle from Kamen Rider Blade. Past releases were also on display at the show.

Despite the fact these do not have as many features as their DX counterparts, these are still highly detailed and based on my ownership of the Legend Rider Series Arcle, the sound quality should be great as well. Personally, since I am a fan of Agito, I might get the Altering.

To close out the Rider based reveals, we have a reveal of a new line: the Sofvi Sculpture Series.

From what I can tell, these are highly posable, detailed vinyl figures. Some construction may be required like a model kit, not sure. Either way, the three that were revealed, Geats, Zero-One and Faiz. They look good.

Super Sentai

Next up is Super Sentai. To begin this section, we have something that was revealed a while ago and is something fans of DonBrothers will love.

A gold repaint of DonOnitaijin! “Gold Plate” DonOnitaijin, which if memory serves me right, was revealed earlier this year. Now, there is not really much to say on this, aside from it just being a gold version of DonOnitaijin. Next up, is an item that I thought was scrapped but, thankfully, has not been.

The Memorial Edition Dino Brace!! Now, as we all know, the Abaranger 20th Anniversary movie is on the way and, like how we are getting Hurricaneger 20th Anniversary Memorial Edition Hurricane Gyro, we’re getting this changer from Abaranger in Memorial form, too. Overall, I am excited for this new release.

Ultraman

Now, what would an article from me be without a little bit of Ultraman? The first Ultraman reveal we have is the Ultra Action Figure Ultraman Mebius! Recently, the six Ultra Brothers received releases in this line and so it only makes sense we get Mebius to go along with them. It’s good timing too, as the Mebius S.H. Figuarts is on the way, too, so you have some options for a Mebius figure.

Next, we have some toys for the upcoming show, Ultraman Blazar. In this first image, we have figures of Blazar, the kaiju Bazanga and the mecha Earth-Garon, as well as some new, unnamed kaiju. The design of these ones, in my opinion, are creepy and I love them.

We also have the Blazar Brace and Stones which were revealed earlier this year, so I will not go too in depth on them, but if you want to see more, please check out this Bandai Mania video.

Quick side note, I know these are not toy reveals, I just thought it was really cool that the Bandai booth was showing how the soft vinyl figures are made.

Disney?

And last, but by no means least, we have the reveal, the Disney Imagination Belt. Yes, you read that right. I was pretty surprised at this. Disney was the last company, I would suspect to make a Henshin Belt, but hey, there is a first time for everything, right?

The Gimmick items for the belt are Keys based on the various properties owned by Disney, such as Marvel, Star Wars, their classic movies, etc. I am going to be honest, I like this design. The belt looking like the fabled “Disney Vault” is an appealing design choice.

There were more things revealed at the Tokyo Toy Show but this article would be too long if I put them all, so take a watch of this YouTube video to see more:

Lots to take in here. Plenty of holes in wallets looking to develop over the coming months. What’s your favourite? Let us know in the comments. Until next time, this is Sean, once again, signing off!
