A new chapter in Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise, Skull Island is a thrilling animated adventure series, releasing on Netflix, June 22nd, that follows shipwrecked characters desperate to escape from the most dangerous place on Earth, a mysterious island home to prehistoric monsters, including one of the greatest Kaiju of them all, Kong!
Skull Island is an American anime-styled series, serving as the newest instalment of the Legendary Monsterverse. The fifth instalment overall in the franchise, Skull Island will be executive produced and written by Brian Duffield and executive produced by Jacob Robinson. The series will be animated by Powerhouse animation, the animation company behind Castlevania and Blood of Zeus.
Skull Island was first announced on January 27, 2021, at Netflix’s Geeked event. On June 8, 2022, during the 2022 Geeked event, a first look teaser image from the series was released. On May 23, 2023, the teaser for the series was released, with the cast announced, and a premiere date was set for June 22, 2023.
