Power Rangers Hyperforce: Chapter One Recap

Power Rangers HyperForce Recap

Power Rangers Hyperforce is a one of a kind Power Rangers series that became the first TTRPG web series in the franchise’s history. HyperRPG collaborated with Saban Entertainment to create a canon and original story of Rangers from the same time period as the Time Force Rangers. With the upcoming release of Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce #1, we are going to dive into the iconic events that took place throughout time and space, following the adventures of the Hyperforce Rangers before their mission continues.

Power Rangers Hyperforce was an original series created by HyperRPG as a tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) live stream experience. The live stream aired as a web series on HyperRPG’s Twitch channel, featuring as a sequel to Power Rangers Time Force and included a talented cast consisting of Ranger series actors and iconic personalities, led by Malika Lim Eubank as the Game Master. The format involved a combination of oral storytelling, improv acting, and effects associated with live stream productions. The series concluded with a total of 25 episodes with various guests featured in different episodes as the story progressed.

The cast included Malika, as the Game Master, who narrated events and controlled various aspects of the world, including villain roles. As a direct sequel to Power Rangers Time Force, the Rangers were blessed with the Pink Time Force Ranger as their mentor. Jen Scotts was played by Erin Cahill, who played a vital role in the first episode of the series. The main cast included Peter Sudarso as Marv Shih/Hyperforce Red, Andre Meadows as Eddie Banks/Hyperforce Blue, Meghan Camarena as Chloe Ashford/Hyperforce Pink, Cristina Vee as Vesper Vasquez/ Hyperforce Black, and Paul Schrier as Jack Dealgoode Thomas/ Hyperforce Yellow.

Hyperforce: Rangers Through Time

Power Rangers Hyperforce will be continuing the story concluded by HyperRPG in the first Season with Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce #1. However, there is a prequel that features Jen Scotts before she becomes a professor at the Time Force Academy. Power Rangers: Sins of The Future was a one-shot graphic novel published by Boom! Studios. Written by Trey Moore, the story features a snippet of the Hyperforce origins as Jen is recruited for the special department. This is a great start that bridges the end of Power Rangers Time Force with Power Rangers Hyperforce.

Warning: The following overview of events doesn’t include significant moments of the Rangers individually. This includes significant events, in-game outtakes, and character moments that would be lost to interoperation without watching so ensure to check out Episodes 1 to 5 of Power Rangers Hyperforce.

The First Chapter of Hyperforce Overview

The first story arc features the first premiere episode and the first 4 episodes that are linked as the first chapter and arc of the series. The series begins with the Rangers in the year 3016 at the Time Force Academy, where Professor Jen Scott begins her lecture with students, Marv, Eddie, and Vesper. Scotts shares her experience with his students about her experience as a Ranger. The other two are also present on the Academy grounds as Chloe attempts to break into a room but is caught by beat cop, Officer Jack Thomas. Events dramatically change when Vesper’s hidden device shows a glimpse into the future of an impending explosion in the room.

The first episode dives into the beginning relations of the group as they attempt to make sense of the attack that starts with the explosion. Jen protects her students against the blast and is soon joined by Jack and Chloe but Jen leaves to draw away attention. The first episode explores the mindset of each character and their challenge to help Jen against the newly revealed threat. Although they uncover the Alliance of Evil, encounter their leader and fight hard to stop them, Jen is defeated and they escape in a Time Ship. Jen then sends the team in a Hyper Time Ship with a locked container, where they awaken Alpha 55 from a box with Vesper’s hilariously over the top snap kick. The container is opened by the unit, containing Hyperforce Morphers and the Rangers begin their adventure.

The first chapter for the Rangers takes their mission to their first Time Period, Angel Grove, 1994. Here they attempt to blend in during Halloween and seek signs of the Alliance of Evil. During their time learning about the area, they encounter the Putty Patrol attacking and fighting against the foe. The team morph for the first time and comes across a monster called Candius Cornius. After the conflict, the team find themselves facing the Alliance of Evil but are severely overwhelmed, leaving Jack fighting for his life from damage sustained.

The team work hard to save Jack and manages to bring him back from the edge of death. The team start working on restoring themselves and the ship, with the Rangers learning about each other and figuring out their next move. Alpha panics when the sensors indicate an anomaly of someone vanishing from history. Eventually, they discover Sabrina in the public library who is revealed to be disguised Scorpina, who is ordered to steal Finster’s clay from a mysterious figure. After the fight, Zordon calls upon the Hyperforce Rangers to travel to Italy to find Finster, with the help of legendary Ranger, Aisha (Karen Ashley).

With the Yellow Ranger’s Griffin ThunderZord, they encounter Velcanos and Scorpina, along with Finster. Unfortunately, the Rangers aren’t able to stop Velcanos from taking clay from Finster, who creates a large gladiator monster. Thanks to the combined effort of Aisha and Jack in the Thunderzord, the team manages to stop the attack and return to Zordon before Aisha departs, promising to keep the secret of the Rangers from the future. The Rangers return to the Hyper Time Ship as it is nearly restored but Zordon calls on them to protect the Earth when Lord Zedd begins an attack, while the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are away.

The Rangers fight against his new monster, Shiburai, who provides a great challenge for the Rangers to fight. However, just as the Rangers seem to have won, Lord Zedd makes the monster grow. Thankfully, fellow Time Force Academy Cadet, Abigail, used a time portal to send brand new Zords for the Rangers matching the motif of each Ranger. With the Lion, Serpent, Pheonix, Cerberus, and Ram Hyper Zords, the Rangers were able to eliminate Shiburai. The new Zords dock with their Hyper Time Ship with everything they need to restore power. They then pursue the Alliance Leader’s ship as it enters the time stream but end up crash landing in a foreign time stream. The Rangers find themselves meeting M and others in an industrial city, with the Rangers finding themselves in a deserted wasteland heading towards the Domed city of Corinth.

The next chapter in the Power Rangers Hyperforce recap will dive into the Ranger’s adventures in the dimension of the RPM Rangers.
