Ultraman Returns to Netflix for a Third Season

Rounding out two successful seasons of the animated Ultraman spinoff, Ultraman is returning to Netflix this week for its third and final season!

Soon after the release of the second season of Ultraman, Netflix confirmed that the anime had been renewed for a third and final season, releasing May 11th. Ultraman has a long and rich tokusatsu history and Netflix’s Ultraman looks to expand on the known heroes with its own variant. The series centres on the son of the original Ultraman, Shinjiro Hayata, and the six heroes (ULTRAMAN, SEVEN, ACE, ZOFFY, JACK, TARO) who carry on the tradition of the legendary 6 Ultra Brothers. Together, they face the schemes of aliens on a cosmic scale.

Unlike previous entries to the Ultraman multiverse, these six tend to fight threats while staying at a more human size, instead of turning huge, and use battle suits to fight the invading aliens and kaiju. Set several years after the first Ultraman series, Shin Hayata, now a defense minister, has no memories of how he became Ultraman and saved the world from the kaiju. Matsushiro Ide, his former personnel in the Science Patrol, tries to help him recover his memories in order to assist the Science Patrol eliminate new threats from the aliens. When the alien Bemular finds out that Hayata’s son, Shinjirou, starts showing superhuman strength, the Science Patrol risks everything to give Shinjirou the top-secret Ultrasuit to fight Bemular and save the world once again.

Ultraman Season 3 debuts tomorrow, May 11th, on Netflix.
