The 2023 instalment in the Ultraman series has been fully revealed by Tsuburaya. The series is set to be simulcast on YouTube with not just English subtitles but an English dub too!
You all remember my first article, right? About the mysterious Ultraman seen in the post-credits teaser at the end of Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey To Beyond? Well, after many, many days, we have the trailer for the new series, Ultraman Blazar!
The theme of this new series will be “communication” between human and Ultraman.

The director of Ultraman Blazar is Kiyotaka Taguchi, who has been directing the series since Ultraman Z, and will star veteran tokusatsu actor Tomoya Warabino, who previously played Heart in Kamen Rider Drive, as SKaRD captain Gento Hiruma.

In a departure from tradition, instead of a rookie or normal defense team member being the Ultraman, this time it’s the captain – something I’ve wanted to see for a long time. Like Leito, the human host of Ultraman Zero back in Ultraman Geed, he has a family so this may create an interesting dynamic between him balancing leading SKaRD, being Ultraman and his family.

Now for our titular Ultra, Blazar. Hailing from M421, a blazar far away from Earth, he stands at 47 meters and his finisher is the spiral burrade, a staff like weapon made of light.
I personally like Blazar’s design, it’s clear this is an Ultra in an incomplete state, so Blazar might evolve over the show like for example, Ultraman Nexus. The pattern only covering half of his body is unique to say the least.

Moving on to Blazar’s transformation items, the Blazar Brace and Blazar Stone. When the Blazar Stone is inserted into the Brace, a red and blue spiral will spin in the brace and when Gento presses the top, the transformation is complete.

Last and by no means least, the Type 23 Special Tactical Armoured Kaiju: Earth Garon! A mecha used by SKaRD to combat kaiju. Standing at 50 metres, it is armed with the Earth Fire, a particle cannon shot from it’s mouth, and a whole array of other weapons!
Ultraman Blazar is set to premiere on Saturday, July 8th at 9:00am JST. The rest of the cast, theme song and theme song artists have yet to be announced.
What do you think of our newest Ultra? Are you excited for Ultraman Blazar? Let us now in the comments. I’m Sean, signing off for now.
