Rejoice Cobra Kai fans! The actual main characters of the show get figures.
That’s right folks, the crossover that first happened last year is continuing and going strong. Let’s just hope Hasbro’s casual message about quality control is actually correct. Aside from QC, I’d say my main complaint is that we didn’t have Johnny or Miguel in the Lightning Collection, we just got these three, and while Daniel Laruso is an iconic part of the Karate Kid/Cobra Kai universe, so is Johnny.
So, with that outta the way, here are new figures, announced in today’s Hasbro Pulse live stream that definitely fix said complaints.
First, we have Johnny in a look similar to his look in season 3 onwards, as the Black Boar Ranger. Thinking about it, it really fits for Johnny. Black is definitely William Zabka’s color. Though the face doesn’t totally show Zabka’s age, it’s one of the better face parts on a Lightning Collection figure.
Then we got the announcement of Miguel as the Red Eagle Ranger. Blue Beetle Miguel here looks pretty alright. I could say the same things about Red being a fitting colour for Xolo Marideuna; although, knowing the show more, I would’ve thought the two characters would have their colours swapped. That saud, I do enjoy how the figure looks.
As noted earlier, last year we got figures of the Larussos – Daniel and Samantha – along with a Putty in a skeleton costume. I didn’t even remember these figures got released but the cast does feel fuller now with four of the main focus characters now in figure form. Now we just need a couple more figures to recreate some of the fight scenes from the show. GIVE US THE ROBBY FIGURE ALREADY, HASBRO.
