In a surprising turn of events, Tsuburaya Productions has announced that the 2020 installment of the Ultra Series, Ultraman Z, will be receiving an English dub.
The dub is set to premiere on the Ultraman Official YouTube channel and on Ultraman Connection today, April 8th 2023, at 11:00pm JST. A teaser trailer was uploaded to the Ultraman Official YouTube channel, which can be viewed here. The cast was also revealed, listed below, as confirmed on the Ultraman Connection website:
- Zeno Robinson as Haruki Natsukawa
- Adaptive Writer Matt Shipman as Ultraman Z
- Mick Lauer as Hebikura/Jugglus Juggler

The dub is being handled by Okratron5000, the same studio who produced the English dub of Shin Ultraman in January of this year, and some crew members from the Shin dub are returning for this one, such as:
- Adaptive Writer Matt Shipman
- Executive Producer Christopher Sabat

“I ask you chant my name, Ultraman Z!”
Back in 2020, I greatly enjoyed Ultraman Z. The characters were fun to watch and the fact that Tsuburaya made such a great show under the circumstances of that year is very impressive. In my humble opinion, it is probably the best Reiwa era Ultraman show so far, and the fact it was chosen to receive an English dub so that more people can enjoy it really makes me happy.
Many Ultraman shows and movies have been dubbed in the past, by a multitude of studios, some I can name, some I couldn’t find much information on:
- Ultraman (United Artists Television)
- Ultraseven (TNT/Cinar and KHON-TV)
- Ultraman Tiga (4Kids Entertainment)
- Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Dyna: Warriors of the Star of Light (Image Entertainment)
- Ultraman Gaia: Battle in Hyperspace (Image Entertainment)
- Ultraman (2019) (Netflix)
- Ultra Galaxy Fight Series (Tsuburaya Productions)
- Shin Ultraman (Okratron 5000)
I am aware dubs for Return of Ultraman, Ultraman Joneus/The Ultraman, Ultraman Ace, both Ultraman Zearth movies and Ultraman 80 exist, but who they were made by, I couldn’t nail down.
All that aside, I am genuinely excited for the Z dub and I’m happy I’ll get to experience Ultraman Z again but a little different this time. So, to the cast of the Ultraman Z dub, good luck, have fun and I hope you enjoy working on this great show!

Are you as excited for the Ultraman Z dub as I am? Let me know in the comments below. I’m Sean, and for the next few articles, we will be returning to the Shin series, as I have a few things planned down the line, so keep an eye out for them.
