The first wave of Ohsama Sentai KingOhger toys have been revealed with the first look at all the upcoming roleplay line and figures. This includes the Ohger Calibur Changer, the belt buckle, changeable Kings Weapons and figures of the team. These will be released alongside the King-Ohja Robo, which has recently debuted in Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. This debut also revealed the special Donbrothers head limited release for fans that are among the first to purchase. Here are the images and details for each of these first wave toys for the new Super Sentai series:
Ohsama Sentai KingOhger will feature royal leaders of five different countries that fight against Earth empire Bugnarok, along with their guardian deities, the Shugods. The team will be partnered with these insect mechanical life forms and will call upon their power to protect Chikyu and the five nations that are home to each warrior. The team will all use a sword for their main changer but won’t include an item gimmick like teams such as Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger and Avataro Sentai Donbrothers.
KingOhger 1st Wave of Release
The first to release for Ohsama Sentai KingOhger include the roleplay deluxe toys for the Ohger Calibur, Kings Weapon, and Kings Hotline phone and belt set. The wave will also include the articulated, 120mm Action Hero figures for all five warriors, with Kuwaga Ohger being released with the King Speeder. All releases will be sold separately but will be releasing on the same day. Here are the full details of each release coming soon in March.
The DX Ohger Calibur
The DX Ohger Calibur Changer for the 47th Sentai series will be a sword that features a switch for each KingOhger on the hilt. The sword will activate sounds and effects for each of the switches with a light up effect featured along the core of the blade. The sword will also have a trigger on the handle to activate battle sounds and for activating special attacks with the switches. Each switch is operated differently and includes the following method for use for each switch from left to right.
- Black Bee Switch – Push – For Hachi Ohger
- Blue Dragonfly Switch – Turn – For Tonbo Ohger
- Red Stag Switch – Pull – For Kuwaga Ohger
- Purple Butterfly Switch – Hit – For Papillion Ohger
- Yellow Mantis Switch – Hook – For Kamikiri Ohger
To change into a KingOhger, the matching switch needs to be used, which will then start the sequence. The blade will light up systematically for the corresponding switch to be matched until all five switches are used which will then cause the transformation sounds to activate. The blade will then light up with action sounds for the active team member that the user transforms into. The Ohger Calibur also includes a charge attack, summon Shugod function, and a Gattai transformation function, which are also activated differently. The charge attack is activated by holding the trigger and then pulling the warrior trigger three times. The Shugods function requires the Red Stag Trigger to be held up then either pull each trigger for corresponding Shugod sounds or pull the hilt trigger for combining for the main robo, King-Ohja.
The Sword functions much like the popular reaction based, Bop-It toy and the unique sound played for each warrior trigger adds extra hype and power. The lighting up of the sword is an amazing feature that fans will love to activate, with the added excitement of matching the right trigger to the colour that comes up. It will be so exciting to try out this new Changer for the series as it seems so addictive to use. The exciting debut will be seeing the first use of the Changer in the premiere episode for the series.
DX Kings Weapon and DX Kings Hotline Phone & Buckle
The DX Kings Weapon and DX Kings Hotline Phone & Buckle set will also be released for the series which can be used with the DX Ohger Calibur. The Kings Weapon is a shield based roleplay toy that can transform into five unique weapons for each member of the team. This includes a great sword, gun, claw, scythe and bow as the forms the toy can change into. The Kings Weapon can also combine with the Ohger Calibur at the bottom of the handle for a Naginata mode.
The DX Kings Hotline Phone & Buckle is the belt on all KingOhger members and contains a smartphone with various sounds. Various buttons will be on the roleplay toy relating to the team including the emblems of each country the KingOhgers are from. The Belt will also have a dock for the Ohger Calibur to be held on, adding to the roleplay experience. All functions and sounds have yet to be revealed but images have been shown for the upcoming release.
The Kings Weapon is a fantastic addition to the line-up as it will remind fans of iconic releases from past Sentai shows such as Seijuu Sentai Gingaman’s Jizaiken Kiba (Mechanical Blade Kiba). The fantastically designed weapons it can change into will be an amazing gimmick to enjoy once again but it is a shame the scythe mode does not long handle to extend. It will be awesome to see what functions the smartphone has in the Kings Hotline belt, but the Ohger Calibur holder will be excellent for kids to roleplay with.
Action Hero Figure Series
The figures for KingOhger were revealed to be named the Action Hero series instead of the Change Hero series seen for Zenkaiger and Donbrothers. All warriors will be released for the line, with Kuwaga Ohger getting his Stag themed King Speeder in a unique set. This hover bike will be used by the red warrior in the series and each figure will also come with their Ohger Calibur. The figures feature articulation for various poses, along with the cape seen on their shoulders. Vinyl and Yudo figures will also be released for the series as upcoming releases.
This is the first preview of the King Speeder, which appears reminiscent of the Speeders seen in the Star Wars series. The Stag and bike elements blend well together and it will be exciting to see the debut in the series. All the figures have high poseability so they will be fantastic additions to any collector of the series, especially if placed alongside the King-Ohja Robo. It will be interesting to see the other releases for this line as it is expected each KingOhger is likely to get a unique mount, like the Alter forms seen in Donbrothers.
King-Ohja’s Donbrothers Robo head revealed
Avataro Sentai Donbrothers recently debuted the first live action appearance of the King-Ohja, with the Donbrothers Robo head seen for DonOnitaijin. This will be a limited release and will only be obtainable for the fans that obtain the DX King-Ohja, until stocks run out. This is similar to the pre-series crossover for Donbrothers in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger which saw the debut of the Enya Rideon that acted as the first Robo of the series before the Robotaro forms. Here is the revealed toy debut of the Donbrothers head for the King-Ohja Robo.
This is a nice addition to the series and it was great to see the debut of the King-Ohja so early. However, the Enya Rideon and DonZenkaiOh were a huge debut that perfectly mixed both teams together, especially with the addition of Zenkaizer Black. The DonZenkaiOh was also a big surprise since it acted as the main series Robo until later in the show, which was the first time a Sentai used a crossover Robo in this way. It is unlikely that Donbrothers head will reappear in the series without the Rangers of the 46th Sentai, especially as the Shugods are already defined and set for release.
The DX line of Roleplay toys and Action Hero figures are all set for release in Japan on March 4th. The Donbrothers head for the DX King-Ohja will be released with the figure while stocks last.
