Ohsama Sentai KingOhger’s Main Mecha and Toy Revealed

The toy for the main robo featured in Ohsama Sentai KingOhger has been revealed on Bandai’s official YouTube channel in a full review of the new mecha along with all 10 Shugods that create the formation. The Sentai mecha will also be followed by the release of the first auxiliary machine, God Kabuto, which is based on a beetle and can form a cannon for the first armament formation.

Ohsama Sentai KingOhger is the 47th Super Sentai series featuring insects as the motifs for the new team. The series also features a lot of first-time themes, including insects and royalty. The mecha featured in the series are known as Shugods, which are mechanical life forms that helped fight the Earth Empire, Bagnarak. The giant insects are guardian deities and the main 5 that paired with past kings led to the formation of the countries featured in the series. These countries featured in the series include the following and the corresponding home for each warrior:

  • Shugoddam – Strongest nation where the Guardian Deity resides. Home of self proclaimed king and Red Stag Warrior, Kuwagata Ohger.
  • N’Kosopa – Land of technology. Home of monarch and Blue Dragonfly Warrior, Tonbo Ohger.
  • Ishabana – Renown for arts and medical care. Home of Queen and Yellow Mantis Warrior, Kamikiri Ohger.
  • Gokkan – Land of ice and snow. Home of Lord and Purple Butterfly Warrior, Papillion Ohger.
  • Tohfu – An agricultural country. Home of nobleman and Black Bee Warrior, Hachi Ohger.

KingOhger Robo Toy First Look

The main robo featured in KingOhger is known as KingOhja, which is formed by the five partnered Shugods and five additional Shugods. These additional Shugods are decorative mecha that complete the overall form. The transformation of the mecha was revealed during a Bandai Mania video highlighting the toy, which revealed the asymmetrical details, various articulation for all forms, and unexpected features that could not be deduced with early reveal photos. The Shugods that form the KingOhja include the following.

  • God Kuwaga – Red Stag Beetle Mecha
  • God Tonbo – Blue Dragonfly Mecha
  • God Hatchi – Black Bee Mecha
  • God Kamikiri – Yellow Mantis Mecha
  • God Papillion – Purple Butterfly Mecha
  • Duel God Kumo – The two spider Mecha
  • Twin God Tentou – The two Ladybird Mecha
  • Lone God Ant – The small Ant Mecha

The most surprising mecha in the main formation include the butterfly, God Papillon, and Ladybirds, Twin God Tentou. The legs of the butterfly mech were never revealed and it was a surprise to discover the piece forms the head of the robo. God Papillon appeared to only form a decorative piece for the sword so it fantastic they are actually a significant part of the formation. The initial look at the formation suggested that the ladybirds formed the hands but they purely decorative, with the hands already part of the Stag Beetle.

The detail on the mecha is fantastic and it will be interesting to see their debut in the show. The articulation of the toy is beyond expectations and seems better than Donbrothers’ DonOnitaijin. This shows how much kids love articulation for their figures and this toy perfectly meets that need. It will be interesting to see what other formations may include the Spiders, Ladybirds and Ant, since they only are decorative components to complete the overall form.

First Reveal for God Kabuto

God Kabuto will be the first of many axillary mecha that will feature in the new Super Sentai series. It is a gold and black Japanese rhinoceros beetle that can form a cannon and combine with KingOhja. The mecha has been shown to attach on the left arm of the main robo, while also having a God Tentou attached after taking its place. The Shugod will also have articulation in beetle mode, including a moving horn action feature and spectacular shiny gold details when in cannon mode. Here is a full look at the God Kabuto as well as the combined form with the main robo of the series:

God Kabuto has a fantastic colour scheme which fans may recognise to be much like the gold warrior in B-Fighter Kabuto. The articulation of the horn and the wing case are fantastic features that make the figure stand out in its robo mode. The cannon form looks absolutely stunning yet still manages to have a balance formed with captivating shiny gold details. As the mecha takes up the space of the Ladybird in the regular formation, it’s great to see it is attached to the new formation, instead of removed.

It will be amazing to see the God Kabuto when it is also used in combination with upcoming releases yet to be revealed. Future toys in the line have already been revealed to be a Scorpion, Grasshopper, Snail, and pill bug. Each of these will form unique weapons or armour for the KingOhja, with the Kabuto, Scorpion, and Grasshopper able to create the first powerup formation when all three are combined. A Donbrothers crossover mecha will also be releasing for the new series, which has teased an image of the helmet like the 46th Sentai’s main Robo, DonOnitaijin.

Ohsama Sentai KingOhger KingOhja Robo toy is set for release in Japan on January 22, 2023, with the God Kabuto set releasing on March 4th, 2023. The God Kabuto will also be getting a single release on March 25th. To watch the official first look of the robo for the 47th Sentai Series, check out the YouTube video using the source link below.
